Putin didn't want Poland or the Baltic states to join NATO. They have and they're not leaving. You have eastern European nations who despite the various conflicts with each other over the centuries minus the Serbs all can agree on hating Russians. Even if let's say France and Germany collapse into conflict these countries have all agreed to align with each other and support one another.
I think Putin's gamble will cost him dearly politically especially if anti war protests begin to grow. There is a good chance the US could color revolution the protests and agitate and make things worse for Putin.

oh I get it, they are part of NATO just like Ukraine could never join it with contested territory, but that's not how Putin sees it. This shitshow results was 100% predictable, no one even argued about it when this thread was around 200-300 pages long. The real problem is that no one thought Putin would actually do it until the very last.

I believe those countries all joined before he was president of Russia, so there wasn't much he could do about it.

My feeling is a bit simpler this time. I think Russia just sent low-rank, low-morale units first because they, for whatever reason, thought Ukraine would be an easy grab, then they were met with unexpected resistance (e.g. Ukraine gov't arming it's citizens and asking them to make molotovs), and so brought in the big boys right away. Y'know, natural escalation, like a government calling in it's military when a protest gets loud enough.
I would second that and say that the Russians don't want to send in their more advanced armor / forces as it would give they West a good idea of the strength and weaknesses of various weapon systems.

Ideally I would love for the 3 largest countries to begin to collapse due to internal strife they all deserve it imagine a world where china, Russia, and America are all too busy with civil wars the rest of the world would have breathing room and truly develop high culture again.

Prisoners taken by the Ukrainians near Kharkiv. Judging from the atrociously out-of-date uniforms and helmets I'm gonna hazard a guess and say these are seperatists rather than actual Russian troops.

Oh, shit, now they claim that Russia transported mobile crematoriums, but the picture is actually from 2013 and shows a non-mobile complex for cremation of biological waste and it's not even the funniest part - I remember them posting the same news with the same fucking picture in 2015-2016. Ukies, you're getting lazy, no wonder EU doesn't want you.

lol, no Russia is probably out of their cruise missiles like a day or two ago.

Putin wanted a high precision strike on Kiev airport, land VDV and be done in less than 24 hours ... you know, like US would do ... but something didn't pan out.

I would unironically form a merc band and go straight for the nearest nukes, and just end you all. :feels:

Oh the rainbows I could give to this. You know the saying how power abhors a vacuum? Yeah that. If all three hegemons collapse at the same time we'll get a massive uptick of petty wars immediately because everyone is now trying to be the next big boy.

old news troll, go back to page 4xx something

Well. its started, foreign idiots are signing up to be cannon fodder

My favorite is this one
Canadian Bryson Woolsey quit his job as a cook on Sunday after seeing Zelensky's appeal. He has no military training and plans to buy a plane ticket to Poland, cross into Ukraine and volunteer for combat.

"I felt like I had to do something," said Woolsey, 33, of Powell River, British Columbia, who became restless as he watched images of wounded women and children in Ukraine.

Definite darwin award in waiting right there. I bet he plays call of duty alot and has absolutely no idea the shitshow he signed up for

When Germany reunited the Soviets and Americans made an unofficial deal that full Germany would be a part of NATO but that'd be it

Then the USSR got flushed a year later

The new Russian government and the USA had no such deal, when Poland etc. joined in 1999 and 2004 Russia was fine with it. Russia and NATO were pretty chummy when America went jihad on jihadis. Even Putin at the time called NATO a "defensive alliance"

He's lost his mind over Ukraine because Ukrainians are Little Russians and nobody but Great Russians are allowed to be big brother of Little Russians. Definitely not Yerps and Muricans

As with all of history, war and conflict is romanticized beyond any reasonable measure and these fools eat it up. You're volunteering to be a pawn in a game for people with power beyond your understanding.
Imagine these woketard dumbfucks, who think they're the smartest generation that ever was while actually being one of the dumbest, and here they are falling for a bait and switch scam as old as time itself.

That plus both Russian orthodox and Islam don't allow cremation which would put the bulk of Russian soldiers outside of its usefulness. Unless they're claiming quick disposal of civilians in which care they're going full on 6 gorillion.
