Does anyone know what Russian/Russian backed troops wear the red armbands? It can be seen in some videos but in others the invading soldiers aren't wearing any armbands at all. I want to assume they belong to DPR or LPR units but am unsure honestly.

Operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00. March 2 on the Russian invasion

In the Podolsk direction, the enemy is trying to continue the offensive along the border of Gorenichi, Gostomel, Demidov in the direction of Kyiv with the help of thirteen BTGs from the Eastern Armed Forces of the Russian Armed Forces in order to block the capital from the northern and northwestern directions.

In the Zhytomyr region there are up to three BTGs from the warehouse
5 All-Army.
In the northern direction, up to seventeen BTGs of the occupying forces, despite the loss of manpower and equipment, continue offensive operations to block Kyiv from the northeast. The invaders were stopped in the areas of Kozelets, Bobrovytsia, and Makiiv. In the other direction, in the areas of the settlements Svitilnya, Peremoha, and Hostroluchcha, the enemy troops lost their offensive potential.

Enemy troops with forces up to two BTGs make unsuccessful attempts to keep the heroic Ukrainian cities of Sumy, Lebedyn and Okhtyrka surrounded.

In the Slobozhansky direction up to sixteen BTGr continue the offensive operation in the direction of Krasnograd and part of the forces up to four BTGr on Izyum. The invader suffered losses and was stopped near the settlements of Bohodukhiv, Chuguiv, Shevchenkove.

In the Donetsk direction, without success, the aggressor focused on blocking the city of Mariupol.

In the Tavriya direction, the enemy continues offensive operations in the areas of Skadovsk, Gola Prystan, Kherson, Snihurivka, Nova Kakhovka. After regrouping he continues to move in the direction of Kherson and Mykolayiv. Up to two BTGr operates in the areas of settlements Vasylivka, Chervone Pole, Novopetrivka.

In the Black Sea Operational Zone, the enemy deploys a ship group and continues to prepare for a naval landing operation.

Unsuccessful in advancing its forces, the enemy insidiously continues to launch missile and bomb strikes on critical infrastructure in order to intimidate the civilian population, which is courageously side by side with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The morale of the enemy and his will to win are rapidly declining due to the steady defense of our troops.

Chechen sniper. Pretty much every NATO soldier that was killed by sniper fire in Afghanistan, was killed by Chechen mercenary snipers the Taliban brought in. Some of it is likely a bit overstated since military stories tend to be a bit exaggerated though.
