In Europe that would require Germany pulling their head out of their ass. They have a lot invested in their Energiewende scheme and crucial to it is Russian gas to keep the lights on when nature doesn't feel like providing. Why nuclear got the axe in this long-term GHG emissions reduction scheme? I dunno. They are fucking stupid, their plan is stupid, and none of it makes a damn bit of sense.

Don't let the Greens write your energy policy.
Unironically because of the Soviets, a lot of these green parties are leftovers from Russia getting the west to de-nuke itself.

Zero Hedge, which usually leans pro-Russia and anti-ZOG, has reported Russia may be facing technical default on its debts.

Basically, the sanctions might be weak, but if your government has no more money you run into, uh, “problems” shall we say.
If that's accurate, I have to wonder if putin would prefer a nuclear war over a return the 90s humiliation of Russia.

Well, considering that's the stated plan of the environmental left (to cause gas and other fossil fuels to become prohibitively expensive and to not touch nuclear at all) I'd say you're (we're) fucked.

My progressive acquaintances are looking at increased gas prices as a silver fucking lining to the Ukraine war. They literally don't care one bit if those higher prices plunge millions here into poverty - they low key think that's a feature too since they need an economic collapse to usher in socialism. The ends justify the means in their minds.
I guess companies will have an even harder time finding people to work in person if gas prices get too high. It’s going to have a really bad effect on the job market.

BIDEN: "Putin may circle Kyiv with tanks, but he will never gain the hearts and souls of the Iranian people."

Lmao USA is a joke
I doesn't really work if he said Ukraine.

From a realistic perspective even if Russia actually wins this war do they really "win" anything? Sure they got a puppet state now good for them but that isn't going to stop the national economy from crashing and burning.

In a security sense if they did nothing then tanks or even aircraft could just go up to Moscow with little warning theoretically. Nukes don't tend to work when you are nuking yourself while you are being bombed.

According to the articles I'm reading the shift away from Gas Powerplants isn't even due for another 30 years. And other European countries are actually leaning into Gas Powerplants. No one is going to do shit on the ground in Ukraine since it threatens their entire powergrid. All they have is sanctions and bad media play against Russia.
I imagine there will be a big shift towards ME and North American gas. But that will take time getting the LNG port and tanker infrastructure up and running. Who knows how they bridge the gap. Magic fairy farts or whatever it was the Krauts were planning on using to make their dumb scheme work. Oh I remember "conservation". Have fun being on an energy drip eurotards.

It's why the SWIFT thing is big news. It means Europe is quitting Russian gas cold turkey. I guess their antennae finally twitched that having your energy sector dominated by imports from a geopolitical rival is a bad thing for national and regional security. It funds their military too.

Might even convince the euros to pry open the wallet and start contributing to NATO. But I'm sure they will find some way to fuck that up.

I swear to God, the incessant need to create these pointless juvenile analogies to a complex geopolitical situation is leading the vociferously pro-Ukraine people to a kind of madness.

They're totally unwilling or unable to look at this event as it actually is, rather than the contrived mental model they've invented.
This is one of the big tools being used by the west, while its not effective here on alternative social media, this is moving and motivating the west to expediently punish the Russians in every possible way possible. Not looking good for the Russians in the grand scheme of things.

@Jet Fuel Johnny , @JosephStalin or @mr.moon1488 , is the US Military able to take over Baltimore, given its current state, in 2 weeks?

Its been a week now and Russia is outside Kiev so I guess time to see if they seal the deal at the end of this week.
rofl if burgers aren't allowed to douse the place in white phosphorus, or just generally autocannon everything that moves (standard operating procedure) they can't even take Detroit
fight me burgers :punished:

On a serious note, Chechen forces are actually very high quality, to the point they even set up Russia's special forces university due to the fact they've been in combat constantly for over 30 years and they're the only OMON unit that is specialized in mountain warfare.

Not really. I think most here agree that Russia has more than underestimated the fervour the West/NATO has reacted to this. I suspect Putin expected another Georgia-like operation, where nobody gave a fuck except for some mean words.

I do not think Moscow expected Kiev to fall by day 2, however. They wouldn't have stockpiled that much materiel in Belarus if they expected a lightning rush with no resistance. (Not to say they're not hoping for it, who doesnt want a quick and easy win?)

From the stuff I looked up, it seems the gas price is artificially controlled. They could drive the price down, but they don't want to.
