Yesterday the Ukraine formally applied to join the EU, now eleven EU member states have supported Ukraine's request. Those countries are Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. I would also note that Finland has been autistically screeching about this as well, but frankly I don't want to give them the attention.

'They must be mad,' I hear my fellow Kiwis groan. 'It's stuff like this that got Ukraine into this mess in the first place!' They cry, shitting in their hands and throwing at their computer screens.

So what are these third-tier, lebensraum-in-waiting, NATO vassal states thinking? The actual wording of the original letter from eight of those countries says this:

"Therefore, we call on the EU Member States to consolidate highest political support to Ukraine and enable the EU institutions to conduct steps to immediately grant Ukraine a EU candidate country status and open the process of negotiations."

EU candidate country status. Not the finished article then.

So what is the point?

In my opinion the speed that the West threw every sanction they could think of at Russia has left them with nowhere left to go. They aren't willing to fight Russia, they've made that as clear as the nose on Abi Shapiro's face, so what can they do? They have nothing to threaten Russia with. They have nothing left but harsh language and hypocritical moralising and the Russians aren't going to be swayed by any of that.

In my opinion they are putting things on the table just so they can use them as a bargaining chip later. Grant them EU candidate country status. It takes nothing. Anyone can be a candidate. Serbia have been candidates since 2012, Turkey has been since 1999. It means the square root of fuck all. Then, when Putin is 90% done with his campaign, put it on the table with him. Say to him, 'We'll get rid of Ukraine's EU candidacy if you pull out.' He'll pull out and cum all over their face (in a good way).

This is all as clear to me as the tits on Abi Shapiro's chest.

But that isn't even the craziest thing. The craziest thing is that your mother will die in her sleep if you don't rate this post informative.

Hah. UN has condemned Israel like 45 times throughout its entire existence, and yet they're still doing whatever they wanna do. I'd put more faith in embargoes than UN resolutions.

Russians just have better opsec, apparently. But also they been banned from most of Twatter so the only place you can get the pro-RU side is from telegram or VK, which of us here don't go to begin with.

I just don't like seeing people be needlessly killed. I don't believe most Ukrainians would die for their country. Hell, many people east of the Dnieper probably don't even want to be part of Ukraine.

Anecdotal but I have a Ukrainian colleague who is a Russia hating neocon but her family in the old country (all of whom are in Kiev) think positively of Putin.

The longer it goes the more soldiers Russia puts into the fight that Ukraine doesn't have the numbers to match

Which Russia should have done from day 1 instead of day 7. It would have been over too quick for globohomo to mobilize against Russia the way it has. By not going all out from the start Putin has made it possible for globohomo to grab a rusty iron pole and slam it right up Russia's poop chute

Must be a difference of cultural experience. Americans don't really have the historical memory of being occupied by a foreign power.
