Based on what you've written before, I can only assume you're a citizen of Russia that furiously wishes he wasn't.

Contrary to popular belief there are people living in Russia and serving in the armed forces who don't want to abandon their native land and go live as some pariah expat in Italy for the rest of their life, where they will never be a part of the local community, where they don't have any blood ties to anyone, and where nobody cares about them.

Projecting your own lack of national pride and your desire to flee your country, your family and your heritage in order to have iPhones and Netflix on everyone else isn't accurate.

One thing i hate more than wokesters as a eastern european is someone who lives comfortably preaching about national pride to the bottom 60-70% of the people who get ass raped and mercilessly exploited by oligarchy. He is right majority of those in the army are piss poor fuckers that the army was only option for making a decent living and buncha conscripts who got forced into this fuckery give them less deadly alternative and majority of them will surrender also most of them have some skills that EU needs anyways.

Even if it is some old geezer putting a rifle in his hand and telling him to guard a train station frees up the usual train guard to go do a more complex role. Organizing a militia unit to guard a bridge and roadway means the territorial unit usually responsible can be sent elsewhere. Mechanics, truck drivers, ditch diggers, cargo handlers, cooks, etc. All important roles. In fact that is what most people in the military do, support roles.

If you can fill those slots with militia and conscripts you free up a shitload of fighting men. Every total war that has been fought in the last 150 years has done this. YOU. DUMB. SHIT.

FWIW, I think I get where you're coming from. I know I wouldn't want to live under Russian communist rule and get thrown in jail for a Ho Ho Holocaust meme or for criticizing Putin. There's absolutely no doubt that living under Zelenskyy is better than living under Putin. Hell, even living under Trudeau would easily be 100x better because at least I can do my banking in Bitcoin and call him Blackface Hitler anytime I want. Not sure if I'd be willing to jump feet first in the meat grinder to defend my homeland but I don't have a personal connection with Ukraine. If I were in Ukraine and I wasn't a Russian separatist, I'd probably become a war refugee to the EU.

It sucks that this became a full-blown war when there were still options do deescalate things diplomatically. I wish there was a way they could've had a semi-peaceful transition like when Pakistan split off from India. I hate watching video of all these people dying, fighting a petty slapfight by proxy between two corrupt Presidents with over-inflated egos.
