It still blows my mind that it's caused by having an extra copy of the gene that causes the most common form of dwarfism or w/e. Like one extra copy takes you from short and stubby but otherwise pretty normal (and capable of living a full life) to dead, or at least usually dead and severely disabled.Just a reminder that "thanatophoric" means "death-bearing."
Yeah, it's the same with munchkin cats, kittens with two copies of the dwarf gene will be born stillborn.I remember in a different thread it was brought up the same thing happens in other animals like rabbits, breeding two dwarf buns risks a portion of the offspring being peanut rabbits, which have two extra copies of the dwarfism gene and always die within a week or two.
Yes, I don’t know if anybody followed Harlow story, but she passed two days ago; she was five. I posted some material from her Instagram page to give you all an insight. She had an extremely rare condition called Lissencephaly, Hydrocephalus, Microcephaly and Epilepsy. I’m pretty sure she died from seizures.
I've been watching this kid too, I refuse to believe that something that looks as fucked up as this and has such a bad diagnosis is actually doing a purposeful movement. Is this actually him meaning to roll over? Developmentally he would be doing that consciously, but there's no way he can be smart enough to want to roll over? Like I said I'm no med fag but I refuse to believe that. LolA few of the most recent tik toks from the mom of Derek, the HPE kid. He's rolling over, which normally wouldn't be that big of a deal for a kid several months past a year old, but for a near-tater, it's damn near awesome. Mom was happy with that achievement, but then she became annoyed as he kept sticking his hand in his mouth, even though it was the only thing preventing him from face-planting into the blanket. She tugged and pushed at his arm and poor Derek repeatedly wound up with a mouthful of fleece.

I mean, maybe, I guess, but it's disgusting to post photos of your dead kid for asspats. I don't think disabled people should be hidden away, nor do I believe that we should pretend that death doesn't happen, but Jesus. Harlow is a human being and deserved to die with dignity. At least Harlow's parents seemed to be halfway reasonable about her prognosis, and decided to enjoy all the time they had with their daughter.
Harlow is a human being and deserved to die with dignity.
People who loved and cared for her...and a professional photographer.I feel more like the posting of the picture itself was undignified, not Harlow’s death.
It looks like Harlow died with dignity in the arms of her loving mother surrounded by people who have loved and cared for her in her brief life.
We’re on the same page.I can't begrudge parents for wanting final photos of their child, I guess.
Agreed, this isn't the Victorian era where photography was expensive and not many people could afford to have pictures taken of their children while they were living (especially if they were babies). Probably everyone in that room had a phone on them, and while everyone will feel differently about wanting the moment of a loved one's death caught on camera, posting it online feels wrong. And while everyone grieves differently, that doesn't stop the photo from feeling very insincere. Especially given the way the mom lashed out at people.I actually think hiring a professional photographer in the first place was questionable
Speaking of dead tato photo ops, one of the tik tok accounts i mentioned, odiesmomma, the cdls baby, there has been a bunch of photos posted of him dead, with a professional photographer there to capture it all of course. He was only being kept alive by being intubated so once they disconnected everything he died. Bonus, his foot was necrotizing and it looked ghastly. And this is the mother that has the nerve to get mad at doctors for the fact that anything they did, didn't work. She also was bitching about the medical supply people not picking up her dead sons no longer needed medical equipment because she just doesn't want to look at it.....
She had some sort of fucked up pregnancy and birth of stillborn/miscarriage before her Uber fucked up cdls monstrosity. I hope she takes two dead sick children as a wake up call to never reproduce again. Why make another child suffer. The kid spent his life dying in the hospital but he is apparently a miracle.
The features of cdls people are fucking horrific.

Imagine having one of these things for a twin, with narc parents who some how prolong its "life" indefinitely, dressing it like a doll on social media and projecting a personality onto it. Imagine your parents prioritizing a living meatball over you. We've seen approximations of this before...
Thankfully, it's most commonly seen in ungulates, but apparently this has been documented in a human pregnancy, so maybe some day we'll be posting our lamentations about such a scenario on this very thread.
Oh god, that reminds me of how in D&D 3.5, there is this spell called stone to flesh so the joke is, if you use stone to flesh on an ordinary rock, you just get a hunk of fleshy meat stuff. I am surprised to learn that flesh rocks like that are real and actually a thing.Imagine having one of these things for a twin, with narc parents who some how prolong its "life" indefinitely, dressing it like a doll on social media and projecting a personality onto it.
