To elaborate, this guy didn't just decide it on a whim, the fault with the satellite systems which was known to various officers but in typical Soviet fashion this sensitive information was not spread in a technical notice to the people handling such systems, it news of the fault had to be spread from individual officer to another in personal discussions of what to look for. Petrov was present for a prior fault that triggered the false alarm which was also disregarded.

You will notice we also have consistently not threatened directly to go to war if Putin doesn't do something "or else." Making the threat, as a superpower, is tantamount to a promise. We'd look ridiculous if we'd claimed we were going to put boots on the ground in that at least temporarily sovereign shithole because that obviously isn't going to happen.

Standard Russian play book from previous wars has been send in the poorly equipped conscripts to get the enemy to reveal their strength, waste their best toys etc before they send in the proper stuff. Any of the conscripts surviving or any damage they do are just bonuses.

I'm already exhausted with the rhetoric surrounding the Ukrainian immigrants and people acting like there's no difference between them and the usual suspects. Personally I blame the right for engaging with this issue on the left's terms for so long by pretending like race, nationality, and religion aren't factors and it's solely an issue of the economics involved.

I am not seeing Russia performing as poorly as some of you

I am seeing tons of propaganda being posted and run through the media without verification like last night about the Kharkov Air drop disaster (that didnt happen)

If you look at the map, Russia is doing just fine.

The video's of convoys could be real. Could be Physop..easy to paint a Z on some old BTR and call it Russian. We have seen no plane wreckages yet we are told dozens of planes have been downed. WE have seen some helicopters shot down.

Just pause and think about whats coming through. Mass desertions and no fuel would mean Russian front isn't moving. Which isn't true at all. Russian armies are marching unopposed all over the place in Southern Ukraine and South and North of Kharkov


YEs they have stalled at Kiev and Kharkov but those are huge cities and if you notice, they are being surrounded more and more everyday

I had a conversation yesterday with somebody and they were like "We need to ban all Russians from the NHL". I asked why and they said "Because they are Russian". I countered that "I bet you thought we need to send all the Muslims back after 9/11" and I got that vacant NPC stare. I had a similar conversation, I used confiscating Jewish assets because of Israel's occupation and oppression of the Palestinians. They literally said, "that's different because of WWII." Then had nothing to say.

People have no standards. This really is a mask off that the majority of society and the western world really have not moved on or learnt from the lessons of history. Which is scary because I have been noticing things in recent years. Especially from people I know who are super progressive who will literally say people like TERFS and JK Rowling should be killed unless they change their views.

There's no guard in their head that these sort of things are a non starter. You can be angry and unhappy, but there should be a moral and ethical framework where you never say or even think these things. There clearly isn't and for most people it's just been performative bullshit and as soon as they are allowed to be racist, xenophobic they jump at the chance.
