At his peak he was a very popular artist with high prices and a commission list a mile long. The difference being that he was actually very productive, uploading multiple times per week for a while. About a third of it was SFW content, too, with a lot of furry 40k fanart. He could have gone legit and made a lot of bank as a cover artist if he stuck with it. His style was perfect for comicbooks.

What happened is that he let his depression/short attention span get the better of him and his productivity went down the toilet about four or five years back. That's when he first lost a lot of good faith with his fanbase, and he took a lot of criticism along the way. That's also around the time he basically moved to be on twitter full-time. Either way he started shedding relevance pretty hard. That all put him in an even more vulnerable mental state, and we know what tranny groomers do with vulnerable people. He got groomed, and the troonout became Strype's coping mechanism, because now he's a True and Honest Woman no one dares criticize him to his face.

He really should have just bought an expensive car and found himself an Adderal dealer.

Funny thing? I know of a similar artist who eeriely mirrors your description of early Strype. Very productive. Artstyle extremely suited for the larger-than-life comic-book style. Balances his work tastefully with most of it SFW. One only wonders if he'd go down the same rabbithole, given that he is now increasingly on Twitter, and has openly associated with the Korps, having drawn fanart at least once.

He was dwindling by then, the height of his popularity peaked before he trooned out and limited himself to drawing female bodytypes that effectively cut his potential consumerbase in half - which I suppose is fine with him because he doesn't want to do the work he asks for to begin with - and other artists pop up daily with considerably better work.

You found him as he was starting his march towards cow-dom, yes. Strype found his "thing" (robot characters and dramatic lighting) pretty early on, and I guess he was feeling like he was in a rut when it all went down. But despite it all looking samey, artists I've talked to have described Strype's rendering style as being very detail-oriented. So maybe he just burned out on a style that was too much work to keep up with, and as a result felt less and less like bringing pen to paper for a living.

While I talk about Strype losing relevance, he's still a popular artist. His star fades harder the longer he spends on twitter and the less work he puts out, but he's probably one of the reasons the Korps occasionally gets fanart from people who aren't necessarily interested in joining the tranny cult. One of the best ways to find popularity as a furry artist is to suck up to other popular artists. And if you're a younger artist with an interest in androids and cyborgs chances are Strype's old art was an inspiration to you.

As to how the Daves met, I don't think we have any solid information on that. There's a bit of a gap in the narrative there.

I wouldn't. I'd go mad if I lived the life of a human being until I was a "coombrain furry cyborg", and continued to live in human surroundings where such things otherwise do not exist. If it were only temporary I'd have to assume that I had a psychotic episode, and I would spend the rest of my life in worry that I'll break again. I'd do everything to avoid themes that were related to the event, obviously my mind wasn't strong enough to survive a whiff of that.

It could be that, but if I got the timeline right Noben trooned out before the plague of troons hit us. He was actually ahead of the curve in getting the chop before it was cool. And I'm not sure how much Dave Sr. actually interacted with Noben before his "fanbase" dissolved.

My theory is that Kraken got swept up on the first wave of the plague of trannies, the same that turned SomethingAwful from a cesspit to... an even worse cesspit. No one in particular groomed him, but he was socially isolated, already interesting brainwashing, and then got caught up on the movement. And it was a gradual thing, too. An archive of his FA from July 2015 shows him with a male avatar and pronouns:

His twitter would probably be the most likely source of answers. Power Level time, but I knew a tranny around that time that was going along with Noben's stuff way prior to 2017. Probably around 2007 or so. There already was a first-wave tranny movement in furry before then with the likes of Trickster or Ashtoreth, and they were definitely putting their feelers out. Noben seemed like the first one that kicked off the second-wave. That Ashtoreth person had a considerable amount of art, dating back to the early 90s, with the bimbo archetype that can be traced even to the Daves of today.
