I don’t think I know a greater than average amount of gay men, but pretty much everything I know about gay male relationships comes from gay men complaining about them. Like for example about how it’s difficult for men who want any kind of sustained relationship to find partners who don't just want semi-anonymous sex, that kind of thing.

From my experience, they don't so much think it's real as much as they go out their way not to think about what's real. They have absolutely no realistic idea of gay men, because they are in self denial about gay men being, well men.

Most of these girls are absolutely terrified of straigh men. Reasons can be many but most commonly these girls are social outcasts with anxiety issues that can barely handle friendships, dating is just absolutely not on the table. That doesn't delete hormones or desire for love, so quite naturally they escape to fantasy. This could be perfectly harmless way to cope but instead of treating it as brake from reality to recuperate, they start to resent reality not being like the fantasy. They don't want to be ones who need to get comfortable and learn to handle life in all of its imperfections. Why couldn't they be born better, like the cute hot boys in their yaoi books? That's just the best, they are the better men than these icky straight boys they have in their class. It would be so easy if I was a gay guy too.... It would also make them a someone else witch can be so appealing to someone with selfhate issues.

Try to point out that gays are pretty exactly like the straight boys and you see them internally putting hands over their ears. They don't want their unrealistic ideas of gays be broken because that means there is no hope. If all males are icky, that means she can't have love and that's just not a fun idea. They can't see that boys grow up and so will she, and suddenly those issues that made her scared will be smaller and manageable.

Again I must stress that the governor's letter was specifically about gender affirming surgery (chop shop) and NOT puberty blockers - which WPATH considers a non reversible surgery and is basically contraindicated. I think Emme, formerly @Everydaygirldad, is causing his eldest daughter to troon out.
