I don't like being cynical but there are people in this world with set intelligence. Reddit just attracts the midwits and places them in nice comfy rooms. You want to help? Donate money to independent charities operating in Ukraine. It will basically do nothing but hey, at least you will feel as if you aided in a global event, tricking yourself into making you feel as if your life had any meaning at all. These people don't want to make something for themselves, they find it much easier to bite down and leach off of others' sorrow, hard work, or accomplishments.

This is a very funny mental image, and we’ve all had laughs about the redditors getting themselves killed in retarded ways, but imagine if one has a shred of confidence and actually manages to hurt or kill some poor Russian conscript bastard. I bet it would blow these people's minds to find out that the vast majority of conflicts in world history--arguably including this one--have nothing to do with grandiose moral visions, but are just conflicts over material interests. As far as I understand, Russia wants to oppose a hostile regime (American puppet government) in Ukraine and possibly safeguard their natural gas supply lines. What does "fascism" have to do with anything? Of course I am arguing against Redditors, who were probably inspired by Marvel movies and internet memes, so why bother.

In this case agreed, but most people who get hypothermia get it in temps as high as 60F because they didn't think staying in wet clothes would be a problem. 26 is below freezing. If you're marching in military formation in cold and rain and are sweating through your socks and underwear without shelter or a chance to rest and dry your clothes out it's a lot more likely to become fatal.

Still stand by what I said about trench foot. Would be even more hilarious if every one of these reddit recruits died before ever seeing a firefight because they didn't realize Ukraine would be cold.
