The problem is, uprisings don't happen the same way they show you in the movies. You know, when ordinary citizens magically organize a whole resistance system with its own leadership, logistics and main fighting force. The uprising needs its organizers and leaders, without it, it will fall apart very quickly. Right now, Russia doesn't have opposition that is willing to overthrow Putin and fight for it. Learn about October Revolution, it was done by a very dedicated and well-funded organzation.

1) your troops need experience.
2)If Nato does something stupid you need a force ready to fight them

It's a war strategy - Russians as a whole are exposed to much more western media. Maybe against popular belief here - but most Russians are educated, civilized people. Yes they are on average quite patriotic, but they know an invasion when they see on.

That's the problem with modern day Cancel Culture. You can't be nuanced or show any exceptions. It's all or nothing. Cancel all Russians regardless of their responsibility or you'll be directly responsible for killing Ukrainian babies and all of your friends will turn their backs on you. Mate, I'm not claiming to be an expert on uprisings. And I'm guessing you're not either considering you've watched a documentary about one. I'm not saying an uprising will happen in X days/months/years. But they can happen in any one of those time frames, in many different ways.
