General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

While there are plenty of good male content creators, by this point I feel like anyone interested in dipping their toes in vtubing would have done so already? And yet there aren't that many EN male vtubers comparable to male non vtubers. Do y'all know any?

Kind of a weird tweet considering they've been accepting male applications since last December, maybe they weren't clear enough with their messaging (or the men that applied so far have been trash). I'm pretty curious to see who gets in.

The thing is, Cover often recruited creators that are literal who or have no prior experience as a Vtuber. And that is pretty successful as a method. Why do you think Anycolor is currently doing the same thing with NijiEN?

Like someone stated before: there are no restrictions per se, some girls are just not interested on collabing with holostars, maybe because shyness, personal choice, language barrier or dunno. About the fans, i think the girls already cemented their own fanbases about what content they want and with whom to relate, Calli & Bae fanbases already expect a male collab because they already have been used to it thanks to them.
Now i put a question: will holostars EN pander to the fujo fanbase same as nijiEN? With the girls of holoEN i barely feel they are pandering to the simp audience and more being comedians/entretainers. I kinda hope the same for holostarsEN, i still think there is a market here for non-fujo focused male vtubers.

Well, Nijisanji clearly has no shortage of interested talent. They just opened auditions again too for both male and female characters. I wouldn't be surprised if they pumped out a third male gen in a few months at the rate they're going.

Looking at the video description now of this new audition, it really does make it sound like the first one was meant for female characters even though they put Holostars in the image of that first tweet. If I recall, they left it kind of vague/gender neutral in terms of who could apply at that time (i.e. they didn't explicitly state that only females could apply).

I guess the success of NijiEN's male vtubers is finally making them ramp up their efforts for HolostarsEN.

It was hypothetical. As soon as a brit debuted is Niji we had pages of doomposting about it possibly being him. It happens every time and it'll happen again if one of these are a brit.

Also, he would clearly give it all up and join Holo just to be closer to his reaper slam piece. Everyone knows that.

If I thought they'd consider a gray-haired Dad character who doesn't play anything newer than Tony Hawk 3, I'd try out.

Unironically, an older man might not be that far-fetched of an idea. Some Fujos or female audience loves older men character, something about daddy issue or something...

Attracting the fujos means Cover will once again come into intimate contact with Chinese fans or will attract the currently untapped spring of a western female demographic. Or both.

If the former elects to stick with NijiEN, Stars will spare themselves of the eggshell-walking it comes with, but will also be starved of the engine that made NijiEN so popular in the first place. Attracting a huge Western fujo fanbase is uncharted territory and could come with all sorts of annoying fucks.

Whether they pander or not is largely immaterial to the people that are attracted to them. Luca and Ike don't really pander all that much but they're still raking it in.

Stars will get a lot of attention from the jump because of the Holo branding, but depending on interest from the girls to collab, the timing of EN3, and the fans' loyalty to existing NijiEN men, they're going to have their work cut out for them. On top of that, they'd possibly have to rely more on other conpanies to remain in the spotlight if things go awry with HoloEN collabs. Just like their senpai.
