I don’t understand why people think Xi will do a military invasion of Taiwan. His MO has been to make it where the government and anyone worth a damn in the major industries and infrastructure in is in his pocket and on his puppet strings so if the army comes in, the red carpet is rolled out so they can help the cops crush any protests about the new closer ties to Beijing.

Because the USDoD thinks so and because they've been building up their military quite a bit. Usually the latter means they are getting ready to make a move.

I don't think we've seen any regime build up their military without using it at some point, aggressively.

Also big ups for providing a genuinely good space for the consolidation of a bunch of info where people relatively quickly and accurately identify the bullshit. I cannot think of a better place on the net for getting a nugget of truth out of this war of misinfo going on.
