I dont know...on the first day 5 or 6 vehicles and a few hundred men tried to take kharkov...a city of millions of people.

I'm not sure if they were told the locals would rise up or if it's just bad planning. Nothing Russia did in the first days made sense...I'm inclined to believe they fucked up.
All of this assumes what you think you know happened on day one actually happened. And given that almost all of the information we're seeing is coming from larping OSINT faggots or direct from the Ukraine government's psyops and propaganda arms, I have doubts on anyone's claims to know the current situation or the strategic thinking in the Kremlin.

Were Russian operations near Kharkov an optimistic attempt to liberate the city with a handful of troops? Was it a scouting operation? Were people confusing Ukrainian units for Russian ones and misreporting an attack? Was the whole incident completely fabricated? That first 24 hours news cycle was wild man, and it's not like twitter idiots post a corrections section.

Not saying you're wrong, and we're all just speculating here. But bottom line is the evidence you're using to make strategic assumptions is not reliable. I mean, how many failed mass paratroop drops are we up to? 8? 12?

It's not unreasonable to think that the Russians were hoping for far less resistance than what they got, and that the Ukrainians are putting up a better fight than they expected. I also suspect the Russians are experiencing logistics issues slowing them down. It's also likely that their rules of engagement are loosening as they have to come to terms with resisting urban centers. However, even these tentative statements are based on garbage data.

None of us know what the Russians are actually doing on the ground. I suspect the *Russians* may not know what they're doing on the ground, lol.

Also, I think other countries (especially Germany), should pay their fair share into NATO,
Which is exactly why NATO should leave Ukraine to it. If NATO for some dumb reason got involved then Ukraine got the benefits of membership (other countries coming to save your ass) without any of the responsibilities (properly funding your military, being ready to defend other people's asses).

Why would anyone join and take part if they knew NATO would come running anyway if the Russians attacked? It would be like an insurance company that pays out for everyone whether you have a policy with them or not, why would anyone actually pay for a policy with them?

Fuck my bed is calling but here we are:

Ukrainian Defence Minister: "Victory is imminent"

This is totally insane, I think it was only two weeks ago I was glued to another thread because of the "bouncy castle insurrection" then last night it was "out of control nuclear reaction we are all going to die" and now (the) Ukraine has snatched victory out of the jaws of defeat.

I don't think the hyper positive "were totally winning" propaganda is as good an idea as they think. True you don't want your military and civilians thinking they're screwed but the super positivity has two major problems

1. The army and civilians think twice before taking super risky/suicidal actions, after all you're winning why would you throw your life away?

2. A lot of the boots on the ground know it's not going anywhere near that good so lose all faith in what they are being told. Ever been in a failing company where everyone knows it's failing but they keep trotting out the CEO to give big motivational speeches about how well the company is doing? Yeah, that's when you start updating your CV.

The messaging needs to be positive but realistic.
they're only winning in the english sphere, the propaganda in the native tongue is a lot more honest. thats the whole silly point about this, it doesn't matter what we think so they can lie all they want.

So what part of the army would this uniform be from? Are they throwing cops into the front now?

This is irrelevant to the thread but for anyone interested in the US growing pains of getting mechanized The Chieftain covers it in this video and the follow-up video as part of the overall development of armored doctrine.

>Russia
>lacking fuel

It's their logistics that are retarded but even then I think all of the claims of abandoned armor littered mysteriously throughout Ukraine are mostly false. As it turns out, a vehicle in a convoy can be refueled from another vehicle in that same convoy and abandoning armor is sacrilege, at least in most militaries.
Numerous of those abandoned vehicles were Ukrainian. Most outsiders don't pay attention to details, such as the digital camo used on their vehicles. For some reason, the videos uploaded by the Taliban last year were of better quality (and consistent) than many of the ones by the Ukrainians. A few of the Ukrainian vids were actually from the Russian-side but with deliberately lowered quality to hide some details. Much of their propaganda is aimed towards dumbass westerners.

The based Asians who run my local liquor store aren't complying with the gay sanctions. Just bought a bottle of Stoli and toasting to my nigga Vlad. May the road rise to meet you, comrade!

Which country are you from and what sanctions are they not complying with exactly ?

Even if their in a place that has banned Russian food/drink imports it's not like they can't sell what they've already got in stock.

Could be the police, but if I had to guess it's Redditor that bought the cheapest gear he could find on eBay and went over. Police are pretty retarded when it comes to tactical shit, but I don't know of many who would be using a flick, but also have mag pouches on the molly webbing on their plate carrier/vest. Granted that could be an assault pack or something he's laying on and not just a flick, but that would mean he only had two mag pouches on him which is pretty dumb too.
