I didn't believe Russia would invade before at least late March for this very reason!

And I know exactly what "carpet bombing" means and that is precisely what the Russians are doing to their "compatriots" in Kharkiv. Kharkiv you see has done the unforgivable in that they refused to get out of the way. And for that they must be made to suffer. All those platitudes about common fraternity matter for NOTHING when the clock is ticking as tens of thousands of civilians are being turned into soldiers around Lviv.

That's part of what makes it so interesting - people generally don't want to go to war and yet they can be convinced to do so using the same predicable method time and time again, in every era and every culture.

As a group, human beings are unfathomably credulous and have zero capacity for pattern recognition.

I'd argue that said method works because it taps into something innate within humans (group mentality, us vs them, fear of eradication, wanting to support other members of the group - which is why the same emotional plea always works, whether justified or not). I would agree, though, that it is quite interesting.

Also, war is actually fairly natural and so perhaps most people do not properly dislike it as they should (war has been glamourised for practically millennia now). Even chimpanzees go to war. It is only in this modern day and age that people have begun to realise the true costs of warfare and that it may not even be necessary.

Ironically, that is one of the aims of a globalised, or 'globohomo' world - if every country was dependent on all of the others, none would be able to wage a war because all other countries would halt trade with them and force them to stop.

Russians just tend to transform the sound of the "H" in "Hitler" to a soft "G" sound. They do something similar with the "W" and replace it with "V".
The alternative to "G" is the "Kh" sound you have for Kharkhov and "Khitler" doesn't sound much better I don't think.
