The EU is divided and to some extent hesitant about picking a fight with Moscow. It certainly cannot win a short-term battle for Ukraine's affections with Moscow - it just does not have the cash inducements available. The EU has sought to play a longer game; banking on its attraction over time. But the US clearly is determined to take a much more activist role.

I think its fine to declare war. I am a big proponent of Independence wars for example, if you want to fight you should be able too. My issue is pressing an offensive war and then when things are not going swimmingly threaten to use nukes against everyone. I lost mad respect to the Putin regime for that. Someone like that should not be in power because as far as I am concerned this is not an acceptable outcome. Nukes should be used defensively like your country is being invaded not the other way around.

Nuke-troops also afaik generally dont need to be told "ho boys, please pay attention now", Its literally their job to always and automatically be ready, 24/7.
If any government talks "ACTIVATING NUKES" and you dont hear sirens or an Ultimatum, then everything is just empty words as usual and WW3 is not seconds away from starting.
That also means you can calm down. Letting the paranoia get to you is just unhealthy in situations like this. It clouds your mind and critical thinking.

I didn't believe Russia would invade before at least late March for this very reason!

Kharkiv you see has done the unforgivable in that they refused to get out of the way. And for that they must be made to suffer. All those platitudes about common fraternity matter for NOTHING when the clock is ticking as tens of thousands of civilians are being turned into soldiers around Lviv.
