They aren't blaming the carpenters, they are blaming profiteering corporations. You see we aren't dealing with record inflation and a struggling economy, all the corporation decided to start price gauging at the same time to make Biden look bad.
YOU WEREN'T SAYING THAT WHEN PFIZER AND MODERNA - aw, fuck it. They aren't gonna listen anyway.
There's also the George Takei school of "high gas prices are good to own the Russians."
You know what is good at owning the Russians without causing us to have high gas prices? Being energy independent with the Keystone pipeline. Unfortunately, Brandon killed a pipeline that would've made us energy independent and thus, would've prevented or at least lessened the effects of this crisis, because you fuckwads wanted to go green, no matter what!

Going green no matter what is ironically what led us to a natural gas dependence. It’s the cleanest burning fossil and it doesn’t have the bureaucratic baggage associated with nukes. I know every internet nerd says that nuclear power is the answer, and maybe it is, since it does a really good job of turning water into steam to spin turbines.

But unfucking the regulatory issues with it is not a short term solution, I posted about this already once - forget my posts, though, just read about Santee Cooper: https://apnews.com/article/sc-state-wire-south-carolina-business-523715e13c6eb51aa11c9c5effa96858

That’s why nuclear will fail for the foreseeable future.

Trump is the worst puppet Russia could have asked for. He sanctioned a pipeline they wanted to build to increase their wealth and Europe's dependency on them, deterred them from realizing territorial ambitions, pulled out of a one-side nuclear agreement that would have given an ally of Russia in Iran potential for a nuclear weapon, and produced enough oil that the USA was a net exporter and lessened the USA's reliance on Russian oil.
Also add Trump ordered the attack that killed 200-300 Russian mercs in Syria.

Got some gas today. Usually I use Google maps to find a relatively cheap price on my way or just look around for one. Gas prices have gone up 10-20 cents here since the last time google bothered to update.

Some of my boomer relatives have begun pulling money out of the bank and informing me of which couches and articles of clothing they've hid it in.

And I'm just concerned as to what kind of shit the people in charge will orchestrate to keep the increasingly impoverished plebs in line.

Probably one of the few redeeming qualities of big city living. You'll have to be paying more for that though since the bus and train people will be paying more for fuel. Try not to get shot fren ❤️

We hear the term "first world" and "third world" used a lot, but what about second world? Turns out "second world" was used to describe Soviet countries. I would say that's accurate for modern day Russia - third world LARPing as the first world, though overall better off than most true third world countries. I would feel much safer in Russia than Sudan.
true, but we'd get a decent chimpout if they raise the fare, and my progressive mayor can't be seen to upset her basketball American voters.

Nigger, there is no such thing as cheap gas in NY or CA.
Cheap is relative. We'll all be wishing Gas was as low as $4 a gallon soon enough.

And the Bugman stance is going to be something along the lines of "here's why this is great news for the environment" and "maybe now you disgusting red staters will learn to love the hive like the rest of us."

They are basing that "comeback" on a poll done by NPR/PBS right after the SOTU. The previous NPR poll had his approval at 40%, the new poll at 47%. I did some digging because Rasmussen polls everyday and his polling didn't show this bump at all, neither did the CNN sample poll right after the speech. The late February NPR poll had D/R samples as not available as the sample was completely random, the new poll was a D+6, so they went from 40% with a random sample to a 47% with a D+6. Some of the cross tabs didn't look right either IE "Is the country on the right track" was nearly identical in both polls, in the mid 30's.

it's shit like this that makes me glad that I'm a city bugman living in a city with a semi functional public transport system. my heart goes out to all my red blooded kiwi niggas
You forgot the part where you get pushed into the path of an oncoming train or attacked by some feral homeless person that's been let out with no bail

I certainly hope I'm wrong, but I think there's a decent chance we'll see grocery store panic runs reminiscent of early 2020 before the month is out, even if gas prices were to immediately freeze where they're at today (which they won't). The second order effects of spiking energy costs are going to be extremely serious for everybody and things are likely going to get very tense politically because of it. We might get to a point where the only political issue people care about is "what the fuck are you going to do about the fact that I can't afford anything at all anymore?"
The government has an answer to that; cancel any dissenter's bank account. The government loves turning people into niggers.

And the only answer of course will be to nationalize all the oil companies.

That would be a problem, if I didn't walk to work and most of what I need for day to day survival is within walking distance. I'm also a big boy, so props to any feral ape who can push me onto a subway track.

I feel like gas shooting up $0.70 a gallon or more in a lot of places combined with everything else is going to play out like a mini version of the 1980 election did except instead of Reagan we'll probably just get a mixed bag of RINOs and GOPers in who will continue the same fucking patterns.

Sorry but I feel doomerish tonight. I watched gas shoot up 75 fucking cents in what amounts to a matter of hours following Bidens speech. If this shit continues on until 2024 it might end in a French revolution fashion as opposed to generic election rigging.

We drove to Tampa Friday, it was $3.79 when I filled up somewhere around Lakeland, basically closer to Tanpa than the east coast. Drove back today and it was $3.99 in random south central Florida, over $4 in real cities. 20 cents in two days, holy shit.
most of my neck of the woods of central FL (real central FL not loser tampa fucks who pretend they're central or south because they suck) they were $3.99 wall-to-wall by today, a few stepped their shit up from $3.79 over yesterday
