From a few pages back, but a really great point. I was speaking to a younger associate of mine (one of many who dances around the idea of being “progressive”, but lacks the conviction of committing to anything so seemingly radical) and I tried to communicate this very point to them. We’re pretty much at the breaking point of this wave of socio-political awareness. I think things were already reaching that apex with the absolute ludicrous extent that some of these things are being taken, but the sad reality of the external threat of war will probably silence the last vocal chimps screeching to a world that now has legitimate problems to deal with.
I don’t think it will solve the ultimate issue of people giving into their mental illnesses and mutilating their genitals, but I honestly believe we’ll return to a more reasoned and centric social stance now that the grim reality of actual fucking life is taking center stage once again.

I myself was pretty bold about nursing wherever I needed to when I had infants but I clocked many dirty looks and learned to ignore them. My father in law and brother in law would both get flustered and leave the room if I breastfed my child in my own home while they were over. I’d say that the general consensus I’ve experienced is that it’s not technically against the rules to nurse wherever but there is an assumption that the mother is being purposefully provocative or inappropriate if she doesn’t hide it. Coincidentally, the one exception I found in terms of public nursing was during Mass at Catholic church.
