I may be out of the loop, but I thought the Richmond refinery was still running? For non-Cali-fags, Richmond (right across the bay from San Francisco and slightly north of notoriously liberal Berkeley) is Chevron’s HQ and there is a giant refinery there (have several chemical engineering classmates who got jobs there). It’s even funnier because on a clear day, you can see it from SF.

El Segundo (between LA and Long Beach) has a giant oil refinery as well — in fact that whole region of SoCal is loaded with oil infrastructure (it’s not advertised for obvious reasons). Besides the refineries, there are oil wells offshore (you can see them from most of our beaches) and inland, but California tries to hide them (making fake buildings around derricks, etc).

Oil is a huge part of California’s economy and history, but we can’t talk about it (Sacremento loves the tax revenue though). Only deep red Bakersfield in inland Kern county openly support the oil industry (and they hate the Bay Area and LA).

Also, our two working nuclear power plants got shut down. Our massive agricultural lands are being used for water-hungry almonds and water-hungry wineries that lose money and are used by the wealthy for tax write-offs). Technology and chip manufacturing has left the state, and new construction is capped by Byzantine bureaucracy, so nothing can be changed.

I weep for my ancestral homeland California and it’s lost potential.
Gone are the days when you could drive from SF to LA via 1-5 and see miles upon miles of grasshopper pumps, as far as the eye could see. Wells have been shut down and only the natural gas, which is a byproduct of petroleum drilling, is harvested because it's "cleaner". I don't know if the Richmond refinery is still going but the environmentalists wanted to shut that one down since I was in diapers. Imagine if California has focused on a way to refine sour crude cheaply and efficiently but nope, let's shut it down! I too wept for my ancestral homeland. I hope I live to see the California Reclamation and oust the Gettys and other degenerates. A girl can dream.

Hopefully the Russians have sorted themselves out and the general offensive can be restarted today so we can get that most holy of things, content
From my understanding, the southwestern offensive halted while Russia was fixing the bridge in Kherson. Since that was repaired a day or so ago, a renewed attack toward Mykolaiv or even bypassing it altogether could happen very soon.

The wells aren’t actually shutdown, they’re contained in fake buildings these days. It’s fucking hilarious.

We're only seeing infinite reports of VDV units or supply columns being btfo every day.

This war will drag on for 6 months max if the Russians don't get their shit together.

We already seen them drop the bulk of the invasion by offering peace for Cremea (which they already stole), and the donbas and lushank region with the stipulation to remain neutral (not be able to join NATO) and the Ukrainians rejected the offer lol. I don't feel so good Putin Bros (:_(

Do they offer passport stamps on request? I think it would be cool as fuck to get a soviet stamp on my passport.

Can you enter from Ukraine or vice versa or is that border completely fucked?

I visited Northern Cyprus in the 2000's. Greek Cyrpus used to fuck around people that had TRNC stamps in their passports, so on entering they made a big show of looking at my passport sliding a blank sheet of paper into it and then stamping that. I'm as Islamophobic as the next guy but I've never been to a country with a population that's as business friendly and loved money as Northern Cyprus.

The guy I rented a car from lamented how his best customer killed a Russian in a fight, and how (because he had a lot of friends) he had to be smuggled out of the country in the middle of the night, and possibly wouldn't be able to return for years.

I also read that Russia is now the most sanctioned country in the world.

More than North Korea, with whom we are technically still at war.
"We" aren't, if by "we" you mean the US. We were never at war with the Norks, it was a UN police action like Vietnam. The last time Congress did its job and declared war was 1941. South Korea is, though. If I recall correctly.

No context.

Btw, I read multiple posts saying that nuclear weapons threats were such bullshit, and that they are useless for taking Ukraine etc.
Consider this: There are tactical nukes with small yields (some you can even dial in through some physics magic, I assume it retards the reaction or smth.)

Think https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B61_nuclear_bomb
You can dial it in at 1,5kT and bomb like it's Beirut (1.1kT), or even dial it down to 0.3kT, which is still the equivalent of 300 tons of TNT.

Of course: Once you open pandora's box...

No, that's not hilarious, that's horrifying. That's CCP/North Korea bullshit.
You know, at first I thought it was stupid/horrifying, but when you think about it, it’s really not. It’s kind of like those cell phone towers they “decorate” to look like trees. You can have high-quality and pretty residential/commercial neighborhoods all while having the land work for you. If you see old black and white photos of Long Beach, it looks like some Sonic the Hedgehog level with all the towers/pumps. I personally like having land that produces oil, looks beautiful, and can be lived on/used for other things.

Of course, I’m thinking of this as a rational city-planner trying to optimize land. This is not how California thinks about it (mostly fee-fees and pretending oil doesn’t exist).

I'm not saying I want Russia to win - but when you've spent eight years being bombed and brutalised as one of the people in the breakaway regions, it's got to absolutely fucking suck to suddenly see the entire world which ignored your plight not only suddenly become hyper-obsessed with your country but ALSO overwhelmingly come down on one side of the guy bombing you.

Anyway, is it known where Zelensky actually is? Is he in Kiev? Is he in Liv (whoever she is)? Has he left the country. Just curious after all those month old photos of him in army gear were doing the rounds last week.

By Deus, won't someone think of the 1-worlders! How can they infest western nations with niggers if those shekels are going to anti-Russian propaganda!? Truly a global tragedy...
I have no trouble believing they want Putin deposed for no reason other than to replace him with a puppet who will look the other way as their pet imports vandalize and set fire to Boris and Svetlana's already meager combloc apartment.

Hell, they probably want St. Basil's torched, just like Notre Dame.

More evidence that Zelensky doesn't care about the safety of civilians

Why would he reject a cease-fire to evacuate civilians? I thought he wanted to spare innocent lives cause he's a compassionate western leader. Could it be because he knows Azov fighters will mix in with civilians corridors out of Mariupol? I'd imagine he wouldn't want his most hardened fighters being processed on the Russian side of the border. I guess he cares more about optics than the safety of innocents.
