Eta: Just to clarify since I'm a smallbitch and not a deathbitch, when I see that pic of Julianna I don't think "lol ugly kid." I think "wow, if you're already fat at that age, your family life has basically launched you down a bad path since day one." Corissa goes through phases where she feels broody, and gets all teary because she won't be making any babies. She's done this before. The feeling then fizzles out as quickly as it came on, and she doesn't even mention kids for a long time in between.

So it's just as well she'll never have kids, or be able to adopt, because the reality of centering her life around an infant's or child's needs would quickly lead her to resent them; and nobody needs a reality-denying, self-destructive Narcissist as a mother.
