It just amazes how these people wanted to supposedly pivot from such things like "defund the police" and COVID because of how politically damaging those two positions have become to now making sure the average American will pay more in the pump.
They want to screw us over full stop, they just need the most effective way to do it. With Covid and Defund the police being wildly unpopular, they're shifting the gear to Ukraine/Russia because they can say it is out of their control. "Sorry, nothing we can do. Do you want us to just let Russia take Ukraine?"

It's all so tiresome.

Why is the problems with the easiest solutions so hard for these people to achieve?
Because once said solutions are achieved, they wouldn't be needed anymore, which = no more grifting.

As previously mentioned, Normie Americans won't give a shit about some Eastern European country when they're struggling just to put bread on the table.

If it gets that bad then yes. I predict 5 dollar gas prices even in the most rural of places. Most people will suck it up, but will be voting with their wallets come midterms. Until then we're fucked.

So what are we thinking prices peak at? With a total ban on Russian oil I'd say ten dollars a gallon will almost certainly happen.
Gas prices are already at $7 a gallon in California according to my sister. I suspect it will hit $8 on average by the end of March with $9 a few months later.

This is not about the mere price at the pump...let's review a few things:

Fertilizer used in agriculture is petroleum based:
Most gardeners have a general awareness of the the difference between "organic," or naturally derived, fertilizers and "conventional" (synthetic) products. Petrochemical fertilizers are another name for the synthetic products because they are produced using large quantities of petroleum and other fossil fuels. Some common examples include ammonium nitrate, super phosphate and potassium sulfate. There are clear advantages and disadvantages of using petrochemical fertilizers -- both in terms of the environment and the plants themselves -- though these are often poorly understood by consumers.
But I use this nitrogen fertilizer that says they don't use oil:
Natural gas is a key ingredient in the process used to make nitrogen-based fertilizers used on a range of crops, including corn and wheat. Natural gas accounts for 75% to 90% of operating costs in the production of nitrogen, Taylor noted.

So apart from Styx's garden, most commercial farms use fertilizer that is based on natural gas or petroleum. Enjoy paying more for food, Teslabros.

Additionally, let's take a look at our supply chain. Many of the container ships will refuel in the US. This is not even considering the truckers that use diesel to move their cargo.

In summary, even if you drive an electric car you are still going to pay more.

President Joe Biden is set to sign an executive order this week that will outline the U.S. government’s strategy for cryptocurrencies, according to people familiar with the administration’s plans.

The order will direct federal agencies to examine potential regulatory changes, as well as the national security and economic impact of digital assets, said the people, who asked not to be named discussing the deliberations. The White House’s approach to crypto has attracted fresh attention in recent weeks after the U.S. and its allies levied sanctions on Russia, prompting concerns that organizations and individuals could use crypto to evade the restrictions.

The White House declined to comment.

How long until the Fed Coin is introduced?

Average will hit 5 by the end of the week, Biden Administration will respond promptly by releasing more of the strategic reserve two weeks from now to stabilize it around there for about a month, and will just have to see where the world is then to guess further.

This is how things will play out. Biden can't let the prices get any higher. If we start seeing ten dollars average gas price then Biden is going to hang. Not even fedposting. The amount of economic turmoil that will cause will destroy America.

This is correct. Oil prices affect virtually every facet of our lives. Every single thing we buy must be shipped to where we buy it (or directly to our homes), and that transportation is facilitated by vehicles that use fuel. As is the production of such things. As is the heating and cooling of most buildings in America. As is providing electricity to those buildings. On and on and on. It cannot be overstated how economically catastrophic this can become. Nobody is going to remain unaffected by this.

The strategic reserves previous release only lasted for about three days and the reserve should ideally be used for wartime measures or in case of a severe national emergency to keep essential services running. The SPR is not some political tool.

The strategic reserve is going to be the only reason America doesn't collapse in the next two months. This is bad, bad shit. I could have never predicted Biden would lead us to this point.

clueless city dweller, apparently you don't need gas when you got horses or something, same for shipping in medicine and fertilizer etc, those can just use a carriage, I don't know.
Well, you can do farming with just horses or old tractors running on biofuels or used oils, with local fertilizer from animals, all the old fashion ways, etc. Granted, that brings the yeild down to a level where most farming communities could just grow enough for their towns, essentially. Doesn't help with the medicine angle, though, you are correct.

Then again it's a little easier to deal with medicine shortages than food. All the well stocked hospitals in Manhattan won't do you much good if you don't have any corn.
