Not an American, but why is it so hard to propose actual tax breaks for large families instead of just writing a check for them? Around here people with 3 or more kids get a lot of tax cuts, but they aren't handed hard cash unless some specific criteria are met.

Because a large portion of the money is intended for people who don't work and do not pay any taxes. From a stimulus point of view, they want to put alot of money into the hands of people who will immediately go out and blow all of it at Walmart on junk consumer goods.

I know your shitposting but yes, the end of January was the last big wave. I work in the medical feild and medical labs started to shut down their covid sections around then. Most stoped hireing at the end of last year. All the trucker protests and stuff started about the same time polticans should of started opening things up again. Which made it just seem like weird poltical manuvering which may of actaully delayed everything.
