I think 'dick measuring contest' implies that there's a sense of direct competition, which I don't think is the case. The outcome and general thought process is the same, but 'Takodachi did this so we need to go one better!' is different to 'Takodachi have set a new standard for showing appreciation and therefore we feel we need to match it to show our love is of a similar level'.

Now that someone has done it first, it isn't really a big deal anymore, so pouring thousands into something when peers of Finana like Elira, Selen, and Enna have all made an entire stream of sifting through fan-made websites and content feels like diminishing returns.

I'd like to take this moment to say that I personally haven't seen any evidence of Finana saying she doesn't want it btw. /vt/ in general has been more radioactive than usual after the Discord leaks so it's more difficult for me to verify these things.

I mean, I did say in my post that the original message seems to have been taken out of context.

It's looking more like Finana never had anything to do with the Discord deciding to abandon the bilboard idea; more like a 3rd party that the Discord mod tried to contact inquiring about the billboard advised them that it's too late and too expensive to get one at this point in time

Yeah, though honestly I'm unsurprised with it being Finana's fans, while I have nothing against her, out of many of the NijiEN girls her and Rosemi seem to have attracted the more "I'm here for parasocial" than "I'm smart and know how to get things done for my oshi" fans. For example with Elira, Selen and Pomu I bet they'd have 0 issue getting a project like that off the ground, in time, especially Selen given how they had a whole damn website, numerous covers and even a fan-game ready for her bday.

It's fine. I wasn't blaming you or anything, just reinstating that it's not something we actually know so everything I said regarding Finana's intent is hypothetical.

If the passage of events is that fans left it too late and got mad, them they just come off as dumb and unreasonable to blame it on Millie and Nina.

Finana Fans have always felt like the most brainlet fans of any mainstream EN-Chuba, either on VT or on streams, probably more brainlet than other infamoulsy brainlet fans like chumbuds because the chumbuds just meme the "dumb" shit instead of "lmao vibrators"
