1. Exxon/Shell/BP/etc don't set the price of a barrel of oil. OPEC does because they are the largest net global producers, and the price of oil is dictated by the global market. These people seem to think the companies control OPEC when really they're just the underlings and tools. And since Russia has such prime control of OPEC they are primed to fuck us over hard.

2. Like you said, this would accomplish nothing but driving the oil industry from our borders. Which is probably what they and by extension their paymasters China want, for America to cripple it's own ability to do anything and send ourselves back 300 years.

3. Even if this shit went through and even if the oil giants paid up, even by their own estimates that's still gonna only cover a fraction of the added costs Americans are now taking on across the board due directly to Bidens fuckups.
