General GunTuber thread

You people are just jealous of Lindy's VAST gun and military knowledge. Did you know revolvers just work and are better than modern Glocks? Oh yeah, all modern pistols are called Glocks like how all MG-34s/42s were called Spandaus. Oh, and we can't forget 18th century British soldiers were more effective than modern soldiers because they shot their guns less and hit more targets.
If you want a good medieval history channel, check out Modern History TV. It's hosted by a literal knight who got rich off vidya games in the 90s who does actual jousting and dueling.
I did not know he owned Rebellion Games lol, but his channel is pretty good to watch.

That time Chieftain had to babysit Lindybeige.

Shit makes me mad with the amount of inaccuracies. Biggest being that the Valiant wasnt nearly as terrible and most definetly did not eat limbs, and that the Sentinel and Ha-Go were rather great tanks for their design dates, the Ha-Go in particular being a reliable and flexible machine. Crumpet chumper mofo.

Another youtuber Armor Archives had brought this up in his Valiant video. As the Valiant we know of today was barely an experimental model as no one done any corrections to fixed the found problems. Something just about every production model tank gone through before and during their production run. But when development is going up against the Centurion tank there's wasn't any point spending more time and money on a dead end.
and that the Sentinel
Chieftain have done "Inside the Hatch" on the Sentinel which he included more background history on it. Which in Nick's opinion was it a technical accomplishment given the barely existing state of Australia heavy industry. But with American Lend-Lease and English tanks being brought in en masse. Again there wasn't much point to fix and improve the Sentinel.

Lindy like so many people get fixated on tanks fighting other tanks and forget tanks fight infantry and everything else more than tanks.

And that the Japanese designed their vehicles based on a totally different land-battle doctrine that involved a harsh-terrain emphasis. Their smaller, lighter tanks performed very well on islands, in the jungle, in muddy fields in China, and all sorts of places you'd normally get armor bogged down.

"This tank holds three men; Japanese sized."

USMC and U.S. Army would beg to differ as they brought their armor everywhere with them in the Pacific. Hence the horrific mismatches between American tanks and Japanese tanks that were occurring on regular frequency.

Keep in mind that you're comparing interwar tanks with tanks roughly a decade newer, the Japanese tank arm was one of the better armor doctrines of the interwar period. The issue is that, like most of the Japanese military, the vicious infighting between the IJN and IJA combined with Japan's bottlenecked industry and logistics situation meant that they had trouble upgrading once things really got underway.

That's debatable with the development of the AC IV. AFV's with the 17 pounder were a rarity by 1942 and the planned torsion bar version would have made a very effective tank, but they opted not to sadly.

Speaking of good tripfags does anyone remember Willis? Where did that guy get off to?
He left for OperatorChan many years ago, last I heard. Election Tourists also really hate him because he didn't like /pol/ newfags constantly starting offtopic shit. /k/ these days is generally much worse than it was back then.

Just give them to rear echelon dudes who basically never get into armed combat. MPs and guards can get by with a meme gun.
I'm pretty sure that as soon as you give anybody in your army a gun that is even slightly subpar, you get nuked on principle.

At least, this is what I've gleamed from arguing on the internet.

I'm sure they still have enough Mosins stashed somewhere to fulfill all their meme gun needs.
To be fair, stock [unmolested/mutilated by Bubba] Mosins are mil-spec even if they're vintage. As much as mil-spec is deride as minimum acceptable standards by internet autists. It is still the standard(s) need to be adhered to if you want to sell shit to Uncle Sam.

Can't wait to see the ree-ing online after videos of them breaking in battlefield conditions in Ukraine.
LOL. Wow, people really read into things. Ian announces from an EU trade show that Brownells is going to offer, in the EU where allowed, WWSD rifles. This is just a marketing ad for WWSD rifles. He didn't hint at or state that anything would be going to a war zone.

The trade show Ian was at is:

It is an international outdoor products trade show. Some interesting things for sure. It isn't really a SHOT Show, it has companies and items not normally associated with or displayed at the American SHOT Show.
