President Joe Biden on Tuesday said that the United States will impose sanctions “far beyond” the ones that the United States imposed in 2014 following the annexation of the Crimean peninsula.

“This is the beginning of a Russian invasion of Ukraine,” Biden said in a White House speech, signaling a shift in his administration’s position. “We will continue to escalate sanctions if Russia escalates,” he added.

Russian elites and their family members will also soon face sanctions, Biden said, adding that “Russia will pay an even steeper price” if Moscow decides to push forward into Ukraine. Two Russian banks and Russian sovereign debt will also be sanctioned, he said.

Also in his speech, Biden said he would send more U.S. troops to the Baltic states as a defensive measure to strengthen NATO’s position in the area.

Russia shares a border with Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered troops to go into the separatist Donetsk and Lugansk regions in eastern Ukraine after a lengthy speech in which he recognized the two regions’ independence.

Western powers decried the move and began to slap sanctions on certain Russian individuals, while Germany announced it would halt plans to go ahead with the Russia-to-Germany Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

At home, Biden is facing bipartisan pressure to take more extensive actions against Russia following Putin’s decision. However, a recent poll showed that a majority of Americans believe that sending troops to Ukraine is a “bad idea,” and a slim minority believes it’s a good one.

All 27 European Union countries unanimously agreed on an initial list of sanctions targeting Russian authorities, said French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and EU foreign affairs head Josep Borell claimed the package “will hurt Russia … a lot.”

Earlier Tuesday, Borell asserted that Russian troops have already entered the Donbas region, which comprises Donetsk and Lugansk, which are under the control of pro-Russia groups since 2014.

And on Tuesday, the Russian Parliament approved a Putin-back plan to use military force outside of Russia’s borders as Putin further said that Russia confirmed it would recognize the expanded borders of Lugansk and Donetsk.

“We recognized the states,” the Russian president said. “That means we recognized all of their fundamental documents, including the constitution, where it is written that their [borders] are the territories at the time the two regions were part of Ukraine.”

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Putin said that Ukraine is “not interested in peaceful solutions” and that “every day, they are amassing troops in the Donbas.”

Meanwhile, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday morning again downplayed the prospect of a Russian invasion and proclaimed: “There will be no war.”

“There will not be an all-out war against Ukraine, and there will not be a broad escalation from Russia. If there is, then we will put Ukraine on a war footing,” he said in a televised address.

The White House began to signal that they would shift their own position on whether it’s the start of an invasion.

“We think this is, yes, the beginning of an invasion, Russia’s latest invasion into Ukraine,” said Jon Finer, the White House deputy national security adviser in public remarks. “An invasion is an invasion and that is what is underway.”

For weeks, Western governments have been claiming Moscow would invade its neighbor after Russia gathered some 150,000 troops along the countries’ borders. They alleged that the Kremlin would attempt to come up with a pretext to attack, while some officials on Monday said Putin’s speech recognizing the two regions was just that.

But Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters Tuesday that Russia’s “latest invasion” of Ukraine is threatening stability in the region, but he asserted that Putin can “still avoid a full blown, tragic war of choice.”

Biden warns direct NATO-Russia clash would trigger ‘World War III’

President Joe Biden again ruled out any direct intervention by the United States to halt Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on Friday, warning that such conflict pitting the NATO alliance against the Kremlin “is World War III.”

“We will not fight a war against Russia in Ukraine,” Biden said in a speech at the White House, refuting increasingly desperate calls from Kyiv for NATO to intervene against the Russian assault.

Biden says Russia to pay ‘severe price’ if uses chemical weapons

President Joe Biden on Friday vowed that Russia would pay a “severe price” if it used chemical weapons in Ukraine, after US intelligence reportedly suggested that Moscow was preparing such an attack.

“I’m not going to speak about the intelligence, but Russia would play a severe price if they used chemicals,” Biden said, answering questions at a White House press conference where he announced further sanctions on Russia.

Biden announces US ban on Russian vodka, diamonds, seafood

US President Joe Biden announced a ban Friday on Russian seafood, vodka and diamonds, as Washington tightened sanctions against the Kremlin over its invasion of Ukraine.

The ban targets goods from “several signature sectors of the Russian economy,” Biden said in a speech at the White House.

Well I still hate Biden. I'll give him credit at least him and his handlers are aware that the U.S going into direct conflict could lead to world War 3 unlike his supporters.

I'm much more of the opinion that by admitting the existence of the biolabs, they didn't allow the Russian (and the Chinese) an opportunity to form a narrative. They certainly wouldn't expect that the US would just admitted that. So by saying they exist, but not revealing what's inside, Washington still have the last card

I imagine the scenario they thought of was: The Russian took the labs, they claimed it was for bioweapons intended to them by showing "proof", US rebutted the claim by showing their own "proof", and because the US was the one who started the labs they could use their "proof" so push back that either the Russian faked their "proof" or misinterpreted what actually was inside

Also by denying the labs exist, they would be called a big liar if the Russian inevitably took the labs. Hence why they admitted it exist, but now telling what's inside. You can't say they're lying that way. And since the US is trying to show that the Russian are lying about their justification of this war, the US can't afford to be called a liar for now
One tactic the US has tried using with the invasion is debunking and predebunking, trying to counter narratives Russia might use before they even use them. It's what they did to counter Russia's prepared narrative that they were just suddenly going to come in for a peacekeeping operation, by just pointing out how Russia had actually been preparing the invasion long in advance.

It's not necessarily the most effective tactic propaganda-wise in all cases, but they're really addicted to the concept of fact checkers and it may be influencing how they try countering Russia' narratives here.

Biden should ban Russian titanium or Russia should ban exports of Titanium.

Russia to Brand Facebook Parent Company an ‘Extremist Organization’

Russia’s Prosecutor General asked a court to formally designate Facebook and Instagram owner Meta as an extremist organization.

“Consistent with the Federal Law on Countering Extremist Activities, the Russian Prosecutor General’s office has lodged a motion with a court for designating Meta Platforms Inc. as an extremist organization and banning its operations in the territory of the Russian Federation,” said the office on Friday, according to the Interfax news agency.

At the same time, the Russian Investigative Committee said it was probing the social media company “in light of unlawful calls for violence against citizens of the Russian Federation by employees of the U.S. company Meta.”

It came after Meta spokesman Andy Stone said that Facebook temporarily lifted a ban on calls for violence against Russian soldiers on its platforms. The Russian Prosecutor General cited Stone’s remark for the ban.

“As a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine we have temporarily made allowances for forms of political expression that would normally violate our rules like violent speech such as ‘death to the Russian invaders.’ We still won’t allow credible calls for violence against Russian civilians,” Stone said in a statement to news outlets on Thursday.

Reports citing internal Meta emails indicated that the new policy applies to countries such as Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania.

At the same time, Russia’s Prosecutor General demanded the Russian communications agency, Roskomnadzor, start restricting access to Instagram. The agency last week took action against Facebook and Twitter, effectively blocking the platforms inside Russia.

“In light of that, the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has demanded that Roskomnadzor block access to the Instagram social network,” the Prosecutor General said in a statement Friday.

Several weeks ago, Facebook confirmed that it would allow the praise of Ukraine’s Azov battalion, which openly uses Nazi imagery and symbols. Azov also has been alleged to have carried out war crimes and torture since 2014.

Joe Osborne, a spokesman, told CNN that the company was “for the time being, making a narrow exception for praise of the Azov Regiment strictly in the context of defending Ukraine, or in their role as part of the Ukraine National Guard.”

Amid the flurry of requests, it’s likely that all Meta-owned services will be banned in Facebook in the near future, said a top official in Russia’s Duma, Sergei Boyarsky. He said the new policy shift endangers the lives of Russians, as reported by Interfax.

In the past week or so, major social media companies have announced new content restrictions or outright bans of Russian media outlets, including state-run Russia Today and Sputnik News.

The Epoch Times has contacted Meta for comment.

‘Afghanistan but worse’: Russian state TV ‘airs criticism’ of Ukraine war

‘Ending this operation will stabilise things within the country,’ one guest reportedly says

Pundits have reportedly spoken out against the Ukraine war on Russian state television including one who called it “Afghanistan, but even worse”.
Guests appeared to break ranks with Kremlinpropaganda by calling for an end to the deadly invasion, according to media reports.

The Russian government has stepped up censorship since it launched its invasion of Ukraine, which has killed hundreds of civilians and caused more than two million to flee in the first two weeks.

The Kremlin has blocked most of Russia’s independent media outlets and forced the rest to halt coverage altogether with threats of prosecution and prison for reporting that deviates from the official line, which includes calling the action a war or invasion.
Meanwhile, state television broadcasts messages claiming Russian troops are in Ukraine to save people from “neo-Nazis” and to disarm a country that was preparing to wage war.

But some guests on Kremlin-backed TV have reportedly shared their opposition to the war.
“I have a hard time imagining taking cities such as Kyiv. I can’t imagine how that would look,” pundit Karen Shakhnazarov, said on state TV show The Evening With Vladimir Soloviev on Wednesday, according to the Daily Beast.

“If this picture starts to transform into an absolute humanitarian disaster, even our close allies like China and India will be forced to distance themselves from us. This public opinion, with which they’re saturating the entire world, can play out badly for us.”

The pundit reportedly added: “Ending this operation will stabilise things within the country.”
Media reported pro-Russian government host Soloviev frowned at such a stance.
The Daily Beast reported another guest, Semyon Bagdasarov, as saying: “We don’t need to stay there longer than necessary... Do we need to get into another Afghanistan, but even worse? There are more people and they’re more advanced in their handling of weapons. We don’t need that. Enough already,”

Earlier this week, staff at an independent TV station staged a mass walk-out after being forced off-air over their coverage of the Ukraine invasion.

TikTok was the solution!

"EU, US announce further actions against Russia as attacks in Ukraine continue
EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Friday that Ukraine is "part of the European family" and that a fourth package of sanctions for Russia is coming along with a plan to wean the EU off Russian fuel sources by 2027. US President Joe Biden also announced plans to revoke Russia's "most favoured nation" trade status and ban key Russian goods like seafood, vodka and diamonds. Meanwhile, explosions were reported on Friday in Lutsk, near the Polish border, in Dnipro, a major stronghold in central-eastern Ukraine, and in Ivano-Frankivsk, in the south-west, Ukrainian authorities say."

I'm dead inside.
Stop giving Russian propaganda ammo, you absolute fucking mongs.

Somebody please correct me if I am wrong here, but aren't the reported bio labs in Ukraine leftovers from the Soviet era? During the Soviet days Ukraine was the Soviet's industrial and research hub. That's why they had 1200 nukes.

Ben Shapiro and Joe Rogan aren't dancing their videos last I check.

Yes. Watch this video, it goes over all the sources (and read the reuters article)

Not according to the article:

But if they were only researching food (as Journalists claim they do), why did US officials testify before Congress that they are afraid of Russians taking those labs? Seems like there might be something more. We know viruses were studied there as per Ukraine embassy, and reuters.
Because the fear is the potential of pathogen leakage that could contaminate the area.

I have a lot of skepticism with the articles I've found so far, mostly that they're assuming that the labs exist purely for the development of biological weapons, which would be the equivalent of saying a nuclear plant means you own nukes.
I find it to be purposely malicious reporting to make it seem like the US and Ukraine definitely have biological weapons, that the labs exist to create weapons, and it would be Russia's fault if they use them.
But none of the sources given really come off as an admission of creating bioweapons, they seem to express concern over the potential of pathogen outbreaks through leakage but the video you listed just assumed it was double speak for deliberate release of these pathogens. Something I doubt because if they did posses bioweapons, they would have been used by now. If they haven't been used because of fear of international backlash, then what's the point of making a weapon you can't use in the very situation you created them for? It'd be like making nukes but not using them.
None of these are convincing me that the labs exist for biological warfare, simply that the US is concerned over what could happen to toxins if they leaked. The destruction of "selective pathogens", makes sense. If they were looking at potentially dangerous pathogens that could leak out in the case of an attack on the labs, it would make sense to destroy them so they couldn't. I don't believe that's covering up evidence, the purpose of disease control is to study dangerous pathogens to learn how to combat them.
That's not unusual activity for a "Health laboratory." Some labs in the US and Russia even have strains of smallpox for research, that's not proof they plan to weaponize it. The video points out the US did donate to the labs but that's not the same as directly running the labs, which would imply US scientists and officials were overseeing the research in the labs. The video ends, and I agree with this, is that it depends on you on rather or not you trust the US government to not make weapons. And I don't trust the government but none of the evidence really shows anything unusual that could point to the development of bioweapons in the vein that China and Russia are making it out to be. Which seems to just be propaganda to paint Ukraine as a puppet government existing for the US to conduct illegal biological warfare experiments and therefore shouldn't exist.

Yes, bio weapons might be on an extreme side. We don't quite have evidence of that (Russia claims they do, but they haven't released it as far as I know).

I don't see it being just a food plant either. It's something big (hence why US is scared), but it might not be weapons. Sucks that there is so little info

US says no indication of Belarusian troops in Ukraine

The United States has not seen evidence that troops from close Russian ally Belarus are in Ukraine, the Pentagon said Friday.

“We haven’t seen any indications that Belarusian troops or forces have moved inside Ukraine,” Pentagon spokesman John Kirby told reporters.

“We’re not tracking any imminent involvement by Belarusian forces,” Kirby said. “That’s not to say that it couldn’t happen or that it wouldn’t happen.”

The Pentagon spokesman said the United States had noted comments by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko that his country’s forces would “come to the defense of the rear of Russian forces should they be attacked.”

“That’s the first time that he’s ever said anything about Belarus perhaps getting involved,” Kirby said, but there are “no indications at this time that they have or that that’s in the offing.”

A senior US defense official said earlier Friday that Russian forces have launched more than 80 missiles into Ukraine from Belarus.

That represents about 10 percent of the more than 800 Russian missiles fired into Ukraine since the invasion began, the official said.

Russian troops have fired nearly 400 missiles from inside Ukraine while just under half have been fired from Russia, the official said.

Reactions: HOMO FOR LIFE
I'm sure the Belarussians are very grateful they'll be getting the battle-proven deathtraps too broken-down to be sent into Ukraine.
It is modern by Russian standards, their leadership is acting like it's the 60s, Lukashenko has all those pictures in soviet hat LARPing as a soviet era general, their tactics and excuses for invading haven't changed since WW2 (the initial invasion of Ukraine just fucking screams Invasion of Finland if our propaganda isn't total bullcrap and "Defending the Russian speaking population" has been their go to excuse for fucking everything ever in the region) and now their entire nation is being thrown back decades thanks because of sanctions.

People liked to joke that time stopped in Russia a long time ago, I believe an international scientist investigation into a potential time dilation field covering Russia should be called up.

Oh, I'm sure its quite modern. But I'm also sure its utterly incapable of being promptly repaired and fit for service (or it would already be in Ukraine given the shitshow there), and even if it is in working condition, its already proven to be nothing but a target on the modern battlefield. I'd feel bad for the Belarussians, but sticking with Russia appears to be Lukashenko's choice since it means he can keep LARPing as a 60's dictator.

Now Belarus is 'set to invade Ukraine': Kyiv claims that Lukashenko's forces will cross the border tonight after he visited Putin in Moscow and Russian air force staged 'false flag attack'

  • Ukraine claimed Belarusian forces are poised to join the Russian invasion tonight
  • Kyiv said it 'could not rule out' invasion after meeting between Putin, Lukashenko
  • It comes hours after two Russia jets attacked targets in both Ukraine and Belarus
  • Moscow has again been accused of 'false flag attack' as justification for invasion

Oh look at that, Russians are learning how to do false flags after they learned how to use WMD claims, time dilation field i mentioned is weakening, they are now aware of decades old USA level tactics. Apparently.

Edit: It would be fucking pathethic to do this shit RIGHT AFTER Lukashenko went to Moscow to choke on Putin's dick, god fucking damnit Russians, I always wanted to see the west get some legitimate competition but this is just pathethic, have fun larping your soviet larp, retards.

Edit 2: I can't help but wonder how it feels to go talk to your "Fwend" and say "Yes" when he outlines a plan to potentially kill people you are responsible for just to stage an excuse for joining a war. I hate the west, I hate the east far fucking more because it's just so beyond clear everyone in position of power is a psychopath on a "God is Dead, I AM GOD NOW" commie LARP. Fucking hell I want off this ball of rock.
