A South Florida elementary schoolteacher from Pines Lakes Elementary had to be hospitalized after a 5-year-old student in her classroom attacked her last week. She had to be intubated and will need surgery.

According to Fox13, two students in the classroom, ages 4 and 5, began throwing [A] objects at the teachers and flipping the chairs.

The injured teacher, Trisha Meadows, brought the 5-year-old into another room after several faculty members split up the students. President of the Broward Teachers Union, Ana Fusco, stated that at that moment the 5-year-old unnamed student then attacked Meadows.

“He actually ran and attacked and jumped on her with his whole body weight,” Fusco said. “She fell and hit her head, which caused the severe injury and other bodily injuries where she is going to need surgery.”

The publication reports that school faculty members could hear Meadows on her school radio, requesting help. When an officer finally arrived to aid assistance, they found her sitting on the ground against the wall, appearing to be in a “faint state.”

Despite Meadows blinking and breathing, the officer stated that she was otherwise “unresponsive,” stating that she was unable to “verbally respond or show any signs of a response.”

Meadows was rushed to a nearby hospital but has been released and is recovering at home. She has not yet undergone surgery for her injuries.

It wouldn’t be the first time the student has violently attacked their teacher. Fusco revealed Meadows had been hospitalized three separate times after violent outbreaks by the student, including an incident where the student threw a bookcase on the teacher, leaving her pinned underneath it.

“She has been hospitalized several times by this student. It’s not this first time, not the second time; it’s the third time,” Fusco said. “The district has failed. They need to get in there and when the teachers are saying, ‘I’ve got this happening,’ whether it’s one time. It should never get past one time when it’s that severe of rage and violence.”

One parent, who did not want to be identified, shared with the news outlet that her child is in the same class, a special needs classroom. The 5-year-old has also been known to strike other students, causing black eyes and other injuries.

“You continuously get this from one student, one, two students; it’s an issue,” the parent said. “This is not the first time that this has happened at this school, in this classroom. I feel like there needs to be the proper support. This is a special needs [A] class; however, they’re not equipped to deal with things like this.”

The Broward County School Board told [A] WSVN that all district protocols were followed. The Broward Teachers Union says Meadows is unlikely to return to the school.

Due to the boy’s age, charges against him are not likely.

Y'know, I get it. He's just a kid, and being special needs he likely just doesn't have the ability to control his strength/emotions. There's no way he really understands what he's done here, and no one should really expect a 5-year-old to have that amount of introspection.

But where this has happened before with this same kid, towards other students even, I think there comes a time where more "intervention" is required. Parents may not being doing enough at home, or maybe just not going about it right, but they do need to be looked in to. Kid seems to be beyond the help of just a basic special ed class, and seems like he just needs to have individual classes with someone trained to handle tard rage safely.

It's a shame though. You know this lady isn't and will never be paid enough to deal with this shit, and she's likely just fucked for life now because the higher-ups of the school didn't do their due diligence from past problems.

I understand that sentiment. However, if something is not done he will start shooting up a block or become a rapist.

This is because the adults are either not allowed to restrain or have not been trained.
Done improperly you can seriously hurt that little of a body.
Under 8 (I think) are usually done in a dear hug (think straight jacket like with the adult holding the hands so the individual cannot struggle).

Multiple questions.
How many kids?
How many adults.
So many questions to ask here and I cannot ask them.
Anyway, there is more to this then they are writing. The situation has more behind it then we know. Would apprieciate a follow up article.
Just wanted to give my 2 cents, and that means I gotta power level some, I'm sorry in advance.. when i worked in the juvenile field, there were 2 main schools of restraint training; Handle With Care (which is the bear hug shit you mentioned), and the MUCH better CIT system, that is a bit rougher on the participants, but a hell of a lot safer for the staff member. Kids with all manner of issues can be horrendously strong, mostly due to adrenalin and rage. They bite, they kick, they gouge (eyes, if possible). Kids like this are a dime a dozen, in my time, I worked with hundreds. Also, I hate to say it, but the kid's also likely a lost cause. Mom or mom and dad are nutless. In a couple years, it will enter the JDC and juvenile justice system. Then they'll find drugs. If luck is involved, they'll OD, or get involved with gang shit and become a death stastic. If not luck can be found, they'll wind up hurting others, and end up in Big Boy Prison. Before anyone chides me for my outlook, look into any states stats on juvenile offenders, recidivism is a thing. I love kids. I have kids (which is why I don't work for the Juvenile system anymore, I need to focus on mine.. But this kid is trash. Whether by nature or nurture doesn't matter in the long run, because there's no good structure or service that can currently fix him. Boot camps are shit. RTC's are a joke, when there's no real way to continue treatments once the kid goes home, (that is, if the RTC will LET the kid finish the program, the state pays VERY well for certain kids to go to RTC's, so the RTC's can be reluctant to either help, or even allow the child to finish the program) JDC's are just a preview to jail. In Texas TYC is the kid equivalent to prison, and it's a fucking nightmare that fixes nothing, just houses the wild animals. Maybe I'm wrong, and the kid will grow out of this. But I doubt it.

the last time i interacted with a kid that age (six years old not five but close enough) i was able to lift her off the ground effortlessly, i can't imagine how such a small kid could cause serious trouble for an adult

but i never saw a tard kid, maybe those are indeed different, no idea

I'm pretty sure the tard just rammed her when she wasnt looking, knocked her off balance, and the fall was what hurt her most. Everything else was just icing on the cake.

Still, its funnier thinking a tiny speed bodied a grown woman. At least, the person who wrote the headline thought so.

Laying on extremities and avoiding pressure to the chest right?

kinda. It's hard to describe, but handle with care entails a bear hug from behind (cuz the little fucks will 100% bite your fucking face if they can), then leaning back and letting your body tak most of the fall, while pivoting to be on top of the kid. Again, hard to describe, easy enough to do though, with a few hours of training.. CIT is legit though. Lot safer for the staff, and at the end of the day, most "staff" are barely above minimum wage family folks, who need to get home safe, fuck the kid if they get a few bruises or shoulder strain, or even cracked ribs. Again, I know I sound heartless, but I didn't work with good or bad kids. I worked with damaged kids, who were sometimes capable of rape, and murder, as young as I think 8 years old.

Teachers won't be able to do the stuff a regular citizen can do (ie: yeet that ficking chimp 10 metres away from you with a good kick) and might only have softly-solfty restraints and verbal judo. its so fucked.

A family member used to work with these "adult" people and one came at him in a tard-rage, but (family member), being the only man and fairly new, balled his fist - which he was not supposed to do - and the sped kind of gained 50 IQ points and backed down.

Certain special needs kids can end up really huge for their age. There was this special needs kid in the store with his caregiver, waiting in line with me. I thought the kid was like 15 years old, but after chatting with the mother, she said he was 7. Blew my mind.

Some of those kids are pretty big. They lack the self control that keeps them from acting like wild chimpanzees too.

I feel like mainstream schooling for a lot of kids like this is a mistake. Kids that are only mildly handicapped may benefit. But if your five year old can throw chairs across the room now what's he going to be like in high school? Imagine a 250 lb hulking shrieking monster who can lift up the teacher's desk and bash her over the head with it.

I'm guessing he's got autism and his parents indulge him at home to keep him quiet and keep the holes in the wall to a minimum.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's the same in this case. This kid likely keeps doing this because he gets away with it, there's no punishment, no separation. Just another example of how broken modern schooling has become.
We'd probably have a lot less school stabbings / shootings if we removed the crazy kids trying to harm everyone early on.

what kind of 5 year old are we talking about here? a 5 year old grizzly bear or something?
I know a half black kid who has hugely fat parents, and kid is tall because he's been overfed. Looked 9 or 10 (or even 11) at 6 or 7. Huge kid. Could easily beat up an adult.

This kid could have absolutely beat the shit out of a defenseless woman.

If I didn't know this black kid I'd also be like eh he's 5, put her in a basic martial arts class for defense or something.

But typical 5year old WHITE tard rage skinny kids are .... NO MATCH for these huge tard rage fat niglets.

I'm sure the white kids come big too somewhere but ime the blacks develop faster, especially with the Fat aspect added in.

It's fucking abuse and black kid needs to be away from his parents if he's borderline obese at fucking 5, 6, 7yrs old. Yikes.

Apparently schools can't require kids to be medicated anymore , if they're causing that many problems disruptive or physical why the hell not? Clearly the school isn't equipped to handle him without it, and he's a fucking danger.

Will the teacher have to sue the school to pay for medical bills? I have no idea how that works but I kinda hope so, just to get the violent tard removed from that school

They don't expel violent kids anymore?

I don't know why this is but in middle school we had a white tard like this. Also fat.
Why just not shoot the retards with tranquilizers?
My nephew was... ADHD in kindergarten, but it was understandable as he switched from full time with dad to full time with mom. He just needed extra time/help and was good by first grade. This was early aughts. The school absolutely pressed mom to put him on meds. Honestly the teacher was just not very good and didn't like him. He was just whippy, not intentionally mean. Big difference, and they still pressured her so she gave in but had him off in a year.

Can't you like, bribe 3 retards with pokemon cards to beat the shit out of this one retard? Circle of life man.
i've seen shit like that happen too. Staff usually can trade snacks or special privileges to other kids, to have the asshole kids ass get beat. You'd be amazed what theses little heathens will do for an extra pudding cup, or chicken drumstick. Snacks, in certain settings, will bee used as currency.

For everybody pOnTiFiCaTiNg about "Lol, issa five year old, lol, whatta dum dum dummy teacher, lol!"

I taught middle and high school. Social Studies and SPED--BOLTH mainstream and self contained. I'm not in Flariduh, but I taught pubblik skool, and a LOT of it is the same:

* NO SUPPORT from administrators or parents. MANY kids raised by Goddamn fucking GRANDPARENTS and even GREAT GRANDPARENTS because their genetic dead ends were somehow even LESS responsible than Mr. RYAN HOOVES Holiday.
* SPEDS are VIOLENT. Some are bigger than the fucking Principal. Some are just like that 4chan b tard joke moderator video on Youtube:
* Again... NO SUPPORT. It ain't the good old days where your license meant you are a trusted professional who could run your classroom the way you see fit.
* Restraint. ELL OH FUCKING ELL. Wanna end up on the 5 o'clock news? Even if you follow procedure to the TEE, you are looking at the possibility of NEVER COMING HOME because your home is now county lockup central booking and the public already has the approved crafted narrative about you. Truth? What even IS THAT?

There are many real reasons there's a teaching shortage in the US. These are just a few. And for the love of almighty CHRIST, SHADDUP unless you've worked, long term, on a regular basis, and/or have the licensure and qualifications to work with special needs populations because you REALLY do not know. With all due respect.
