I respect Jake Tran but I immediately started calling bullshit when he compared Ukraine & Russia to New York & the United States. At what point exactly did the United States take all of New York's food & force them to starve to death? Ukrainians don't even speak the same language as Russians. The inverse of this comparison holds more water because New York doesn't produce food.

Isn't this the 2nd group of men Reddit got killed? Remember the dude in the school :story:

This is why the Russian military takes every one's phones. 1 Redditer fishing for upboats in their mix can kill 100 men.
Even more, Russia is probably inside the telecommunication providers in Ukraine. Whether redditors are using wifi or 3g they can probably see "oh wow a lot of redditors are in this specific building" without redditors posting selfies for upboats.
The Ukrainians would do well to either force all foreign volunteers to live in a building 1 mile away from anything important or just confiscate all electronics.

I have to point out that on a board where free speech is welcome, some of you are wanting to silence a POV you don't like from a user with the worst profile pic on this site. I don't like it either, but analize the videos and move on.

I'm interested in the analysis.

If they got the cell carriers control center they can literally just sit back and watch the affiliation display. A whole bunch of fresh SIM cards or out of country ones just showed up on a tower? There be redditors

You know, that's actually a really good point, but why don't they just isolate Ukrainians from the outside world? Most of the shit we're getting from sources that aren't biased as shit is Ukrainians posting online. Wouldn't it be more expedient to cut them off from the wider network on the tower end and monitor the locations of shitloads of phones instead? Telegram is kinda really important to Ukrainian resistance, so nipping it in the bud at the source would surely be a better idea?

This of course doesn't eliminate wifi, satellite, broadband, carrier pigeon and whatever cave paintings based system they use right now, but there's ways to cut them off, surely?

You can't take the cell phone away from a dude who went there to take selfies with dead russians.
