I'll never get why killing a journalist is somehow the worst thing you can do in a conflict. Most journalists travel in trucks with armed soldiers so they presumably feel bulletproof, while knowing that any enemy not taking down that truck is going to see a bunch of soldiers try and kill their soldiers soon enough.

My favourite video of all time was when a Sky News journalist rolled in on a convoy straight into Libya (or was it Syria, I forget?) with all the confidence in the world, assuming that every guard had put their weapons down and accepted defeat... only to start shooting once they were encircled resulting in them having to speed off like their lives depended on it.

Not saying this isn't true, just saying that they picked a Jewed government over their own people and now they're going to pay the price for that. Loyalty to a nation that is loyal to you in kind is noble, loyalty to a nation that does not reciprocate loyalty is stupidity.
that is true, right now it looks like zelensky is throwing them to the wolves like hitler did the sixth army in stalingrad

well, you might not have seen that kind of peacocking. but all sides more than made up for it with a different kind instead:

on the subject of which, ukranian propaganda fucking sucks compared to these bangers. I mean, I can understand russians wanting to be radio silent but hohols can fuck off with their pathetic 'Ghost of Kyiv' shit. make a fucking music video, then you might actually see me cheering you on just for the chutzpah!

Compilation, Ukraine Stronk.

SLAVA UKRAINA!

More catchy, lyrics are basically "we are great, you suck" :D

This is the place Russia blew up a few days ago in Lviv... why was the Florida national guard training there in December I wonder?

Aren't the Rusians being jewed out as well though? Being sent to your death to kill slavs on behalf of jewish oligarchs seems very jewish

He's "denazifying" Ukraine like a good goy

It would actually be preferable if Zelensky would leave Kiev. He's only there to make sure the army and the nationalists don't seize control. He was elected to be the "moderate" candidate to negotiate with Russia, that's why the eastern half of Ukraine voted for him. He failed, so now it's time for the nationalists to take charge again.

Might have been posted :)

The city of Izyum, southern outskirts, an intersection near the traffic police post. Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine run towards the crossroads, hoping to take cover at the traffic police post. They ran in full gear for almost one and a half kilometers, but already a few meters from the shelter, they were hit by artillery (detailed to be Tornado MLRS).

Drone footage of a grad strike, they have the nickname "grid square erasers" for a reason.
I want this to be on the frontpage of r/volunteersforukraine instead of all the uki propaganda videos of random ambushed supply convoys. See how many people still feel brave when the "Russia is just a buncha bumbling retards!" narrative slips away, and they realize they're up against an enemy with one of the most powerful artillery force in the world.

The last time the west went up against an enemy with actual artillery was the Korean war, and that is a trauma those who survived never forgot.

Have fun, redditors! Let's hope the shrapnel only rips your leg off, and you can pay for your new prosthetic limb with all the heckin' reddit gold you got! You might even get a PTSD service doggarino!

unless you were a kurd, then you might end up getting massacred by saddams army in reprisals for disloyalty shown by kurdish authorities during the iran-iraq war. make no mistake, saddam was a nasty motherfucker, burgers aren't wrong when they say that.

where they are wrong is when they pretend like that was the reason for the invasion, which just isn't true. the whole planet is full of nasty motherfuckers, most of them america just ignores, some it supports, some it opposes. no, the reason wasn't saddam being a nasty motherfucker, the reason was their geopolitical strategy of bringing about global american domination by turning every country on the planet into a liberal democracy, one invasion at a time (see also: neoconservatism, 'end of history' thinking, liberal hegemony, bush doctrine)
why start with iraq in particular? probably because the region (persian gulf) is of great strategic interest to america due to the global importance of its oil supply and the presence of one of the fiercest anti-america forces on the planet (the islamic republic of "death to america!" iran)

they did it anyway because they planned to keep going and take down iran right after iraq, so this outcome was not even on their radar.
Everybody hates the Kurds but they did get into politics which was Saddam’s red line. He was nasty but he was probably an independent Iraq’s least bad choice.

We support all kinds of assholes (re Afghanistan) as long as they’re OUR assholes. BTW, hard to understand why the USA keeps picking the very worst people to support.

It should have been in their radar but this is another example of a failure by the vaunted US intelligence agencies. Outmaneuvered by Iran? It was amateur night.

motherfucker who the fuck are you to decide who did something wrong or not
who are you to decide what country gets punished for "wroingdoings" (as defined by you) and what country gets away with it

that is the core issue here. if "b-but their government was mean to our friends!" was a valid reason for burgers to invade iraq, then the same is a valid reason for ruskis to invade ukraine.
These politics of invasion "to help" the populace are often a shit show any way.
Chances are, after the war is over, there is no stable government left and that's even worse than a tyrannical ruler.

Just look at what happened after the "forces of good and democracy" supported "moderate" rebels in Syria and Lybia.
The government in Syria is still there, but you can only expect it to do this much with the civil war still going.
Even Afghanistan has it better with the Taliban having never fully gone away.

It's often better to let shit run it's course, even if there are dissidents getting tortured and executed.
Normal people can at least feel somewhat safe, if they comply and try to not pull attention to them.
Have fun with that, when there is an active (civil) war going on and after that you are ruled by some "moderate" rebels, who change all the times due to ongoing infighting.

Oh I forgot, war is great if you are fighting for the right side, no downsides.

Eh the 6th army situation was more mistake than malice. The thinking was that they'd be better off holding out in Stalingrad until they could be reinforced. The alternative to this would have been a fighting retreat which could have potentially led them to be trapped trying to cross the Don River. It was obviously a bad decision, but it was not one made on unsound logic. The Mariupol situation now is so idiotic that it almost seems intentional. Azov would have been much more useful launching harassing attacks on the Russian rear as they tried to cross the Dnieper at Kherson.

It was also attempted because the Germans had used airlifts to supply the Moscow front in the winter of 1941 to great success. The Germans learned the wrong lesson in Moscow and attempted the same at Stalingrad. In truth taking Stalingrad got doomed the moment they were unable to encircle the city. Which is why it's so important now for the Russians to fully encircle Kiev.

Sounds like a lot of the foreign volunteers on the Ukraine side are deserting go back home.

Ukraine is totally winning guys! The reason Russia hasn't taken any cities yet is due to the valiant defense and fighting spirit of the Ukrainians! Plus the Russians didn't have a plan at all! They didn't bomb the shit out of those cities because the couldn't! Not because they chose not to! These foreign fighters deserting aren't leaving because their side is losing and they see that, No! they are deserting because the battle is over! Ukraine has won!
