They shouldn't spread themselves too thin, but they can't keep themselves up with taking the cities (depending how it goes ofc), if they don't want all sorts of shit delivered to Ukraine. I would think the Russian generals know if they can extend further or not.I can see an argument for that, but I personally wouldn't do that. Doing so would thin out reserves pretty substantially, and if the Ukies did launch a counter-attack beyond just reoccupying lightly garrisoned areas, you'd be running the risk of them getting a real strategic win that could keep them in the war a lot longer. Personally, I think they really need to close out Severodonetsk that way the DPR and LPR are free to make a steady push towards Dnipro which might cause them to abandon operations in the southeast.
