At this point, it's just cope and seethe from the DNC. BBB is dead, Joe is a demented old coot, and his administration is easily one of the worst in US history. I'm not gonna be blindly optimistic given how many snakes are on the other side of the aisle, but if the midterms do end up being a bloodbath, I'm gonna enjoy some delicious schadenfreude.
I think they have just about given up. Even Bidens SOTU felt like more of a campaign speech than anything else but even so it fell flat.

It is hard to see while it happens but after the fact it is easy to spot that a change has happened. A lot of the young progressive and energetic always online and always working hard to push the democrat message seems to have lost all enthusiasm and drive. In one of the more super progressive places (Resetera) I saw a thread about Biden wanting to fund the police in his SOTU speech. There were no anger there were no "acab" there were just some weird complete defeat and people posting "So now we are funding the police? Welp, guess I am never voting for anyone ever again".
Similar reactions to his repeated promise at SOTU to bring a "15$ minimum wage".
Even things that would just a year ago would have been a lightningrod and generated a LOT of people tweeting/ retweeting/ protesting for a full week, like the significantly out-of-context CNN push of "Trump said he admires Putin" didn't even get any traction and fell off the news within hours.

This all to me speaks of the progressive and loud engine that pushes the democratic party and the young voters that they have turned their back on not just Biden but to the Democratic Party and to political engagement and voting itself. I don't know how you measure this in polling but I feel there is absolutely a huge trend where all these progressive voters and their energy is completely missing now. Biden will have a tough time come midterms if his base has just given up.

Several months ago somewhat in jest but also quite seriously I suggested that Biden should just re-run with his promises in 2024: "medicare4all, 15$, student-debt-relief, defund the police, etc etc" because the progressives are like goldfish can only think about a single issue at a time and have short memories. @Gehenna corrected me and said these broken promises would not be forgotten but would result in their base just losing interest and motivation and it will cause them to just not show up for voting at all.
I was not sure if he was right or not.
I see now that @Gehenna was right and I was wrong. Biden has completely destroyed any enthusiasm and trust he had from the vocal progressives and they are just no longer going to come and bat for him.
Midterms will be a bloodbath.

Slight PL. A personal anecdote on how much things have changed in the last 12 months. A close friend of mine still works in big-tech in the bay-area. He said that he now sees on internal message boards people publicly with their name saying things like "we have to stop focusing on this progressive bullshit and instead fix the economy and bring the jobs back home", this and similar is said by people that up until recently had serious TDS and were both on the "it is her turn in 2016 and pro-Biden "vote blue no matter who" in 2020.
Even in big-tech in the bay area! people are no longer afraid to flame the progressives or biden, even people with the worst TDS you could imagine just 12 months ago.

This is going beyond "one screen, two movies" and into "I reject your reality and substitute my own" territory.

My question is, do they actually think they're able to fool anyone with these blatant lies, or is this just desperate coping to try and reassure their base that everything is fine?
They honestly believe that everyone believes what they push and anyone who disagrees gets the slammer if they could get away with it.

I was not sure if he was right or not but now, considering how lonely Biden is and that it seems that the young progressives are not pro biden anymore and not anti-biden but just 'we have given up on politics completely'.

Honestly, I think that once we get closer to November, the progressives will be back once they hear of the great evil they need to defeat. Maybe they’ll even vote to put their people on the local and state positions.

As for bloodbaths, I’m sure that 2020 rules is on everyone’s mind, and both parties are moving accordingly.

Have mixed feelings about this. On one hand:

The bugmen will still vote Dem. They will Vote Blue No Matter Who™ and No Matter What.© Many of the Bernie Bros still went out and voted for Hillary and Biden. They will especially do this if Bad Orange Man runs again, or even someone like Ron DeSantis who will most certainly get a similar treatment to Trump.

But on another:

Dem voters are lazier. They are more likely to stay home and be defeatist.

Yeah, I think the main issue is that there is no lightning rod like Trump, and thus no Voldemort/Darth Vader/Hitler 2.0 to latch onto.

2020 (despite the shenanigans) brought out the Dem voterbase because of 4 years of media-shilled TDS. Nothing about the Dem platform (or even Trump's platform) mattered.

The goal is when Trump tries to say "we were energy independent under me and Biden fucked it up" a million political operatives can run out to Twitter and Reddit and go

DEBOOOOOOOKNKEDD!!! THAT WAS DEBOOOOOOOOOKNEDDD!!!!!11!!ONE

And that is the thought terminating statement that the left and many moderates have been programmed to respond to.

Anyone trying to argue the point will get a face full of smug retarded faggots going "Debooked sweety didn't you get your updates from Putin you russian bot blocked and reported and oh look you're suspended for disinfo another evildoer smote by YAS SLAY KWEEN." You ALREADY get this when trying to refute a lefty talking point.

And that's presuming they even allow Trump to speak to anyone outside of his base over the next 4 years.

I wonder if they'd be saying the same thing if tech stocks weren't tumbling right now.

Funny thing is coverage of Trump's rallies is extensive even on liberal networks like CNN because their greed and lust for ratings outstrips whatever beliefs they claim to hold.

It makes progressives mad as fuck when they realize they can't ban Trump from doing things irl.

It won't be that easy to get everyone back on board for that though. The problem for the Dems is that we're now firmly in bread and butter territory: people care about the cost of food and gas, the cost of housing, and the growing requirement to choose which costs are more important than others. Social issues, the thing which drives progressive turnout, are only effective when you're not wondering how you're going to pay next month's bills.

Couple on the anger regarding some of Biden's choices (student loan payments and insulin pricing especially) and the Dems are not in for an easy time getting their people to the polls. Easy to harness rage when your opponent is in power, much harder overcoming apathy and indifference when you're the one in charge.

EDIT: Should also highlight the traditional nature of Dems just voting less in midterms. Talk of a bloodbath is quite realistic given where all the signs past and present are pointing.

They wouldn't, but if stocks weren't tumbling they'd have no reason to see fault in the current practices - it'd still be producing good results with no negative effects. Unfortunately, there's a catchy four-word rhyme for what's playing out...

New Soyjak dropped.

We're sending Putin a bill? No, WE are fronting the bill while you are deflecting for the people who handed us the check, retard.
I'm guessing the man is a pedophile in California, probably a writer for some TV show, you can see in his eyes how desperate he wants this to be the launch of his tik tok career.
