Are the rules to the contest posted anywhere? If Saruei is trying to claim rights over all contest entries and just not the winner, then the "free art" thing holds some water.

I'm assuming the ownership thing is a non-exclusive global right to distribute the work, even for non-winners. It allows you to do things like say here were the 5 runners up before the prize money and show the art on stream. And it allows you to easily shut down someone trying something silly like saying I gave it to Saruei, I didn't grant her permission to distribute it to the judges, pay me or I'll go to court.

Do people not know of and use nyaa? I assumed anyone who wanted this would have found it when it was put up last month. Or if you are ambitious, just use yt-dlp and grab it yourself from youtube before it is disappeared. Didn't realize nyaa torrents would be some great discovery... There's also a lot of unarchived karaoke and other streams and members content that is put up there, so have fun. Anime, vtuber stuff, and other torrents on nyaa are probably not really monitored like US TV shows and movies, but I'd still recommend doing it through a VPN if you are going to, just in case. I mean you are already using an anonoymous VPN to come here anyway... right?!

It is too bad though that they have multiple rushia torrents between a non-member, member, and complete collection, splitting the seeder base and making it difficult to get, especially when it is almost 2TB.

She seems (or seemed, I guess?) terminally incapable of engaging with streaming in a way that doesn't feel like she's just trying to run out the clock or fill time.

I also feel like she struggles with integrating herself without doing so entirely on her own terms. She often misses or half asses her interactions with other members in events except for those she organizes herself.

I think this creates a weird feeling where the English branch has to accommodate two parallel cultures. One for everyone besides her, and another for situations that include her.

I don't like her rapping at all either, so that probably doesn't help to make up for any of the above like it might for others.

I agree with a lot of the other posts on why I don't watch/like Calli, but probably this one the most. I don't like rap and even of the stuff I've heard I don't find hers any better comparatively. NBD, everyone likes their own thing, but it is such a huge part of her and her fanbase that you can't escape it. Also, as I've said before, I don't enjoy the constant swearing and trying to be edgy, so that also excludes her (and Kiara, and Coco before them) from anyone I'd watch regularly or really at all. That's fine if she would contain it to her own streams, but it is annoying when she is in collabs with people who don't usually peddle in that kind of stuff and just shits up everything. She's the token wigger girl!

I feel like that is extending to the "english lesson" streams. I feel like when she offered to collab with the JPs and teach them english, maybe they were hoping for more than the crap she put out. Teaching them her dumb slang and to swear in english, LULZ so original. I watched the one with Gura, Laplus, and Iroha and while it had its moments (supplied by them, not really Calli), mostly it felt cringy and worthless.

I hadn't really thought of it until reading the above post, but I do also agree with the idea that it feels like she splits up the culture of holoEN. There's those that like her and her brand, which seems totally different in my opinion, and then those that are more into the traditional HL vtuber "idol"/comedian type scene. Kiara straddles it a bit, but she's definitely more on the traditional side too. I guess whether you consider that good or bad probably depends if you like her or not.

That you don't have to wait 3 months for a series to end to watch something that's currently airing.

There was a brief glorious time where you could get all the anime from Crunchyroll and everything else from Netflix and that was all you needed. For a year or two I quit torrenting almost completely and enjoyed that I could get anything I wanted to see from one of those two. Then everyone else realized they could make money too and took all their licensing back and made their own streaming services. After that you had to have like 10+ subscriptions to services to get the same content and it just got stupid. So I went back to torrenting and didn't bother looking back.
