The Final Fantasy Thread

Yes. It's probably the main reason I won alongside the aforementioned luck of the Goers not getting the ball.
Just remember those rules for any blitzball game now since Wakka is one of the better characters and you gotta Blitz for his Ult Weapon and Overdrives.

Watching clips of Origins, I have to ask: What is with the grunting? Every Nomura touches sounds like the characters are struggling to move their arthritic knees.
I believe this is a very Asian thing in general to make noises in combat, in Japanese this is called Kiaijutsu I believe. It is supposedly a mental warfare tactic to shout at your opponent, it is supposed to reduce their focus (out of fear of you or just a distraction) and focuses your mind through positive reinforcement while you make your strike. It also supposedly can regulate your breathing. Just about every martial arts movie does this to varying degrees. Nomura sure as shit didn't start this trend, characters have been screaming their heads off in JRPGs since the ps1.

Imagine women don't moan uncontrollably when they're around you.
Oh, I don't need to imagine.(:_(

I really cannot wait for Stranger of Paradise, it looks so unhinged.

I do enjoy how earnest the writing feels but it is absolute edgecringe at it's finest.

Please let me relive my retarded teenage fantasies through this game.

What's that?
Spin off Final Fantasy game by Team Ninja. From what I've heard it's a looter/character action/baby soulslike. (Correct me if I am wrong anyone)

Set in the world of FF1, not entirely sure what it's deal is, I've avoided as many spoilers as possible.

Seemingly it is some sort of isekai type set up, MC is very angry and autistic and wants to kill Chaos.

The tone of writing from the clips I've seen so far reminds me of MGR:R, the whole game just gives me edgy 2000s AMV vibes. So people are either going to love it or hate it.

I got my hands on it via pre ordering online 3 days early. Your pretty much on point, im not super into souls games, but I seem to be doing just fine on hard. (more or less) Biggest complaint I can consider is the dungeons being fairly linear aside from a handful of bonus paths. I do dig the look and twist of the dungeons being
Reality warped replicas of areas from other FF games

It's a doozy, but I wont spoil too much. It's self aware without being overindulgent and I really dig that. There's a reason why they are hesitant to call it a traditional Isekai.

Im sure some here will disagree when the dust is settled, but so far the lore is AWESOME. I have no doubt its going to have serious implications on FF as a brand going forward.

Look, unless we get MGR quality memes out of it, don't bother comparing.

So I finally picked up the HD remaster of Final Fantasy X recently and actually tried to win the first blitzball match. After restarting my PS4 in rage a few times, I did manage to do it. This shit really just boils down to luck, and all you get is a minor cutscene change. Felt satisfying to win after all these years though, won't lie.
Is FFX good? It and X2 are on sale right now on Steam. I nearly bought it this morning but then I remembered I have about 4 other jrpgs that are unplayed and about 3 in varying states of early play. I may get it anyway, but I need a little outside inspiration.

Re: blitzball

The game fucking cheats on the story game. The Luca Goers are a mediocre team at best and any time you face them you can expect a quick win during season play. Whereas the team you beat in a cutscenes, the Psyches? Holy fuck, they're good. You aren't going to beat them with your base team at low levels. In fact, ditch every one of the Aurochs asap, there is no point where any of them are any good (Wakka is decent at low levels but quickly becomes irrelevant). Yes, I know Keepa maxed out at 99 shoot at very high levels. I know Wakka's Aurochs Spirit gives him a very high stat boost. Your stats are mostly decoration late game, your skillset matters more.

Anyone digging the Strangers of Paradise demo? The controls are retarded and the game does a poor job of explaining things to you, but once you settle into it, it's pretty fun. I have a soft spot for FF1 so I'm probably going to get it. It's pretty clearly a B team game though.
Had the exact same experience, wasnt digging it at first but im finding myself coming back to it, legit enjoy it now, probably gonna get the full game at some point

Cant believe the whole "Bullshit" and Limp Biskuit meme was real lmao, if this super edgy stuff keeps up Jack might become my favorite modern FF protagonist besides Noctis
