Well it's also a vast misunderstanding of russias economy. Yeah, it's not the greatest, but it's still pretty diversified, and has good manufacturing capabilities and resources. This isn't Iraq where they had exactly one resource and have to depend on that. Russia is one of a handful of countries that can actually pretty much do everything on their own if they really needed to.
