Reading between the lines, it sounds like she had a large stool burden on the first X-ray, maybe with some troubling-looking gas patterns, and whens he gave her calm and accurate history they were worried she was obstipated.
At the ED, they probably determined she was just seeking and constipated, and sent her home with a list of numbers for follow-ups; if it's not an obstruction, gastric motility testing is something for a specialist to coordinate with Kindness outpatient. Assuming she does follow up, and doesn't just keep bouncing back to the ED every time she wants more meds and attention.
It takes a while to get in to a specialist. There are people with genuine disorders and an appointment on the books months away, who have to keep coming back to the ED until their condition is bad enough for an acute admission. There are also people with hypodilaudidemia with almost identical presentations, who are quick to remind you of the plight of the former.
