Well, I'm polish and Putin demanded NATO to leave Poland. War in Ukraine is in my personal and national concerne and I'm glad that Russia is heavily sanctioned.

I hope they will get sanctioned more, until cogs and gears of war machine will no longer spin.
Fuck Poland, learn to screw in a lightbulb.

First they came for the retards, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not an @Elbereth.
Well, let's not forget you predicted west collapse by now.

i think they could also be intended as long term punishment, as a deterrent.
like, if russia goes into a long, harsh and painful economic decline for the next two decades as a result of this situation, by 2040 people in all countries will look at the ruined remains of russia and unanimously agree that going for this invasion was a major blunder, a huge mistake. this would contribute to everybody thinking twice before trying to go for similar aggressive military adventures in the future.

whether it works out this way, we can't predict at this point, but i think that is part of the intention.

yes, and every russian business unable to pay the bills further reduces moscows available tax base and contributes to economic downturn. the goal is to damage the russian economy as a whole.
That's exactly how it worked when the winners did it to Germany after World War I. Permanently destroying the German economy, and starving Germany made certain that there would never be another European War. It was a happy ending to a dark period in human history, with no bad consequences whatsoever.

Though I'm not sure why we put a "I" after World War there. Odd.

Roman numerals were cool back then.

Remember that all pre-war analysts said that Russian’s logistics were based on rail and pipe and not trucks because, partly, they didn’t have enough drivers to carry their logistics the way Americans do. As a matter of fact, it was stated that if they used trucks, they would have to use conscripts to drive them.

To me, this seems to support the narrative that Russia did go in soft, however, the other part of their doctrine is that they do want conflicts to be very very quickly so there’s that.

It’s been 4 weeks now, so I’m not really ready to call it a quagmire since the Iraq invasion took much longer and destroyed more infrastructure and killed a lot more civilians; yet that invasion is lauded as Perfection in Military all the time.

We shall see.
Didn’t the invasion of Iraq took a month or so? The yanks steamrolled and was always moving forward, while the Iraqis took tail and run.

Their equipment is good but I have no idea what's going on with VVS. I'm probably just used to the US military though. Russia might not care about air superiority.
You would want air superiority, hopefully air supremacy when dropping paratroopers. Cost a lot of VDV lives recently. Air superiority/supremacy is also good for air-landing troops/supplies at airheads and getting the bombers in. Surely the VVS can do this, they far outnumber the UkeAF. The VVS should also have Russia's best electronic warfare gear. i just don't get it, myself.

Ahh, the horror of not getting big mac with coca cola. If only Ukrainian in Mariupol would know how hard those poor Russians have :c.

Because clearly, those sanctions appear out of nowhere. They were not caused by anything in particular. It is just mean russophobia.

how to proceed AFTER winning a war is something you can worry about once it is won.
the conflict against russia is not won. russia is not defeated.

also, in ww1, economic warfare (including trade embargo and naval blockade of german ports) was a significant part of the allied war effort and contributed significantly to the collapse of the home front in germany, which in turn contributed significantly to the deterioration of their army's ability to fight

All “neutral” assets were burned to support the Rona hoax. There is no credibility left.
They care but they’re doing the red neck version because they’ve lost too much time already.
The mods claimed there was going to be an instant ban for doubleposting in this thread, yet this guy just doubleposted.

Mods are using the Biden doctrine.

The sanctions will likely stop if the war ends or regime changes, unlike the oligarch sanctions they’re not punitive.

Russia is also food independent (unlike China), so if anyone in Russia starves it’s entirely the fault of internal mismanagement.

Ah, also I think it is relevant here. It takes about 2 months for sanctions to take full effect. Companies need some time to leave, there are still wares in magazines etc. etc.

So, if you think that economic damage to Russia is bad now, buckle up! Things are about to get a lot worse.

Don't mess with regular people just living their lives, what the fuck is wrong with you?
Pretty tough trying to grab the moral high ground on that one while Russian artillery and MLRS is leveling residential neighborhoods indiscriminately because they lack any kind of accuracy or precision. For all of the talk about them being so great they really are just Cold War era grid square removal systems.
What the fuck does that have to do with Ivan suddenly losing all his access to money so he can't pay his bills? Ordinary people had no say in anything that happened.
The sanctions of 2014 were a failure because the Russian government used private accounts and the networks of their oligarchs to launder money. That's why. If you want to sanction the government this is the way it's got to be.
