Since people seem to conveniently forget that Iraq invasion was an equal shitshow to the Russian antics today:

I don't know how I would provide pictures of troops lacking food, batteries and even ammo in some cases, but it did happen. The main highway leading to Baghdad was littered with thousands of MRE just tossed out of windows and there was fucking units walking along picking them up looking for food. It was absolutely ridiculous, fuel shortages abound, retarded pilots attacking our own units as just another tidbit of joy that was forgotten as well.
That was a greasy horror show.

I do like how for 99% of my life Kiev was Kiev but all of a sudden people are backtracking and calling it Kyiv instead. Some supermarkets have renamed Chicken Kievs as Chicken Kyivs and it's cracking me up.

Here's a Guardian article from 2014 calling it Kiev.

Here's a BBC Podcast from the January calling it Kiev.

I refuse to be memoryholed and part of the reason I want Russia to fucking annex Ukraine is so we can go back to how things were.
You're gonna have to start calling it 'The crater where Kiev used to be'

@JosephStalin A few weeks ago, Neither you nor I were sanguine about the Ukraine's chances. I'm still of the opinion that they're the underdogs and that Russia will likely slice off another large chunk of their country but how would you rate things now?
Anything can happen now. Ukraine is still the underdog but they are giving Russia all they can handle. Question how much more in the way of troops Russia can put into this fight. They must keep certain garrisons manned. Any help from Belarus would be minimal, sort of like Italy attacking France in 1940. The French were able to hold them off.

This thing has turned into a grind. We may well have already seen the peak Russian effort. Now they are just bombarding cities. Russian bombers, last I heard, were still flying over Russia and launching cruise missiles, afraid to face Uke air defenses. Should Ukraine get those former Soviet SAM systems from the USA/EU, could see bombers flying over Russia be taken down.

My guess - some sort of negotiated settlement. Russia is weakening, Ukraine is getting stronger. But I couldn't say when it would happen and what the terms might be.

One may be shocked, but don't be surprised by anything that happens there. Don't totally count out angry Russian public opinion, as sanctions keep biting and more and more Russian sons, fathers, husbands, uncles, cousins, and loved ones come home in boxes. Even the Nazis paid attention to German public opinion. And for all his dreams of grandeur, Putin is no Stalin. His conventional military has turned largely into a laughingstock. All Putin really has are the nukes.

At this point it's probably going to end with a land bridge being created between Crimea and the Donbass region being turned into a puppet state. Don't think the Odessa region will be puppeted since it was vital to pre-war Ukraine's economy, but now will be an outright requirement.

So basically the most entertaining ending, you'd get people saying that Russia totally planned for only taking a couple regions and not overthrowing the Ukrainian government at the cost of completely destroying any relations with North America and Europe plus some of Asia, where they will end up utterly completely dependent on China, and you'd get people acting like this was some supreme victory for Ukraine, despite the fact their economy will be in ruins, many people who became refugees will probably never return home as they won't have a home to return too, plus getting a large chunk of it annexed.
Suggest Ukraine will get a good deal of help from the USA/EU/Japan/others in rebuilding. Suggest Ukraine will rearm, as well. Russia has a huge mess to contend with re their conventional forces. Not sure if Putin has the guts to deal with the most corrupt, the ones who took the money intended for fuel/equipment/food/supplies/maintenance.

I wondered this before, and I'm wondering it still: why is DC spazzing out so hard over this?

We've already slapped infinity sanctions on Russia. Ukraine has already received billions of dollars worth of free weapons and cash. Nord Stream 2 is finally dead, after years of US government pressure, so that's a big win for American policy. Freeloading Nato countries are finally promising to pay their way, another win for those defense contractors. Sure, the official line reported in every Western media outlet that Russia has stalled and is getting its butt kicked (:smug:) is probably at least partly bullshit, but even if a shirtless Vladimir Putin himself is currently riding victoriously towards Kiev on top of a bear, why does it seem like they're panicking?

They're acting as if this was something between the Cuban missile crisis and the bombing of Pearl Harbor, when the stakes for US strategic and economic interests are in reality about zero. Doesn't make sense, especially when they're willing to damage strategic relationships that actually matter - with China and Saudi - over who gets to control the poorest country in Eastern Europe.
big think. Ukraine doesn't matter too much in the grand scheme. look at Germany, they need Russian gas to keep production but want to throw it away. makes me wonder what the fuck is really going on that none of us are privy too

Bong intel confirms that further strikes in the last 48 hours have been using the hypersonics. I stand by my thesis that this is a sign of them running critically short of precision munitions to the point where they are firing experimental nuclear-capable weapons at tactical targets.

It's downright terrifying, some dark shit is afoot and we will likely never know what that dark shit is.

Let's sanction the country we sent all our jobs to during an inflation crisis so that they can limit our access to goods and materials, all during a time when America is increasingly seen as delusional and schizophrenic in its double standards. Biden era foreign policy will go down in history as the weakest and most pathetic of any time in American history. The retarded millennials running the Department of State think they can treat sovereign nations like when they ask bigtech to cancel an American account they don't like. Absolutely fucking embarrassing.

Putting an insane retard in charge (or at least we pretend he's in charge) of the United States didn't turn out to be as funny as we thought, but it is certainly exciting.

Well I just saw this picture on /pol/ and thought it might be a parody or photoshop.

I tried to find video footage of this and well folks, apparently its true. Around the 7 to 8 minute mark.

President Zelensky is a foot fetish chad, maybe this is why reddit really loves him.

I guess Ukibros love men dancing in a homosexual way and sniff feet in their movies to make him their president.

I don't think Putin will be willing to settle with anything below the recognition of those dumb people's republics and the Russian occupation of Crimea. Zelensky has already suggested his willingness to concede in regards to the donbas affair. Putin now has every incentive to keep fighting until he gets something substantial so he can justify the loss of Russian life and wealth.

Or maybe they wanted to field test their toys. Occam's Razor, to cite a bong from an earlier and less retarded time.

We don't know what the Russian General Staff are thinking or planning, but I doubt they'd make an assumption of that kind. And as we won't know anything about what was and or will be said in these planning meetings for generals for some time, who knows what the Russians think? Anyways, as someone mentioned earlier in this thread, the Russians might be making a feint for Kiev, while encircling the Ukrainian forces in the Southeast to crush them. To cast some hypocrisy on my own statements, I think that's a likely course of action given the information we know.
Whatever is going on, if it's globally known that Putin is having a massive turnover with his staff right now, something has gone horribly wrong and Putin's trying to play the blame game with any scapegoat he can find.

There's a major difference between US troops having to jury rig their own armor and dead russian troops being left out in the snow to freeze and be pissed on by hohol peasants.
Not to mention the colossal fuckup that happened with the airborne insertion on the airport that didn't get reinforced and so that 'elite' unit got wiped out almost entirely.

i think it's just a matter of using the war as a convenient opportunity to test some of their new high tech toys in real battlefield conditions, that's why they're using these missiles.

I would have agreed on one, but they appear to have exclusively switched over in the last day or two.
