General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

i still believe hiring Man that has experience handling a female audience as a requirement for HoloEN Manager doesn't mean they going toward fujobait. more likely to create a BFE.
For the weeb circle fujobait IS the BFE because fujos often self-insert into the uwu softboi role of the ship. And fujos vastly outnumber non-fujos so BFE is not as likely.

I've never done it.

No, I don't.

I have behaved like that and received an apology. By the way, I told her not to DM me anymore after that. I wonder if they don't send that kind of thing."

Apparently a member of her swimming club from back when got way too aggressive with her feelings towards Mel one day.
Mel is so matter of fact about this story. I'm glad she's moved past the pain of this incident.

I don't know the context but it sounds like Miko and Peko from their previous lives
Please archive. :) And that is definitely the elite and the war criminal.

The first time we get into a videogame in recent memory, it's a tranny in Siege, the first time we get a Vtuber, we get this fucking thing. Am retarded, please disregard. Watching Pippa play Roblox until 5AM has caused brain damage.

So this is where the "PekoMiko stopped because Pekora rejected Miko's advances" rrat came from, huh. Ngl I can see it.
Always wondered how that started, guess this is the answer. Seems like yuribait to me, but maybe the Peko/Miko dynamic was starting to mirror this too much and made Pekora uncomfortable to go back to so she dropped it.

Honestly fellas I just want to see PomuTori. Even KFP in her chat were like 'Just Collab already!' when Pomu messaged her. It's the most blue-balled V-Tuber collab that's ever existed.

For the love of God can someone cut the red tape and let them sperg at each other for an hour or two.
For real
Holy shit

Vtubers should be required to dress like their characters IRL to stimulate the doxx economy.
Matsuri has pictures on her roommate account that look suspiciously like her alternate outfit. It gave me a double take. An La+ is the same cringe/edgy chunni in reality as well.
Why would any of that be a problem if Japanese fujos are the target audience in the end of the day?
I disagree with @kukkia that there isn't a valuable market for the less fujo-bait system.

Personally I wonder just how much of the success of the male NijiEN is explicitly because of the pandering models, delving into that kind of entertainment, or really just because they're the only ones around. I just don't think the juice is worth the squeeze in the longterm, too many egg shells. I've said it before but you can go the alternate route, but you need to make it work from a team-perspective, which is something I honestly believe HL does a bit better than Niji.

I'd say at this point I watch the two groups relatively equally, as well as a good few indies. What I'll say about the 'difference' between Nijisanji and Hololive is that, at this point (recent issues notwithstanding), Nijisanji still feels like a a group of a extremely talented individuals, while the Hololive groups definitely feel more like talented teams. The interactions reflect this. I'm not knocking either; they are both effective. However, I have a feeling that the strength of that team formula wouldn't utilized if they just go this fujo-route.

I had a whole thing about this a while ago, but TLDR, have one fall into that category, but keep the others well enough away. You'll get that market without pandering to it, while maybe building a better synergy with a possible male one.
Video of the full discord call:
She sounds like a cringy shitposter, but the others (the main subject of her insults) in that call just sound enraged, and a bit creepy.
If this is true, the tone-deafness is astonishing.
I might be optimistic, but I think this might be a more precautionary venture. After Rushia's manager failing miserably in handling her situation, it would be to their interest that any manager is at least aware of that route. I'm assuming Cover is going the normal route that the new manager will be male and just making sure this person wouldn't be out of depth. Maybe even the Interloper?

  1. HoloStars is not a "fujo pandering" group any more than Hololive is a yuribait group. They do things a certain way because Hololive is an idol agency. Their male talents are also going to be idols, or something resembling it. (People seem to forget this, but they do have concerts)
  2. Fujos are not the majority of female fans. The majority (as with any demographic) is filthy casuals. The most subscribed male VTuber is fucking Nux Taku, because he baits casual anime fans like nobody else

  3. There is no indication that fujobaiting is becoming the meta, other than Vox Akuma's revenue numbers. He's pretty much an isolated successful case like Rushia was. Niji's new wave doesn't lean into it nearly as hard as Vox does.

You do know Nux was an Anime youtuber for almost 6 years before becoming a Vtuber right?
It's disingenuous to call him the "top male Vtuber" in as much as calling Nyanners "the 2nd most subbed Vtuber in 2020" when she became a Vtuber during that time.

It is mildly important to note that Nux only became a vtuber recently. Like not even a year ago. He got most of those subscribers when he was just talking about anime.

When he was what is essentially a PNGTuber. I understand the technicality but he was as close you can get. Time frame though isn’t as flattering.

Edit: I don't want to clutter with a back-and-forth:
So that means Jaiden Animation is the most subbed Vtuber of all time with her 10 mil subs.
It doesn't work that way. PNGtubers are given leeway in a sense that it's not supposed to be their main model for 6 YEARS.

This is why people don't consider PNGtubers to be Vtubers, or why they only allow it in the first 6 months-1 year of their life, because it's highly implied that the PNG is only supposed to be temporary.

Heck, Nux doesn't even consider himself to be a Vtuber until Hololive boom happened.
I see what you are getting at, but stylistically comparison to Jaiden animations is a stretch. Using his PNGs during his videos, he mimicked direct responses in a format that looks almost exactly like a lagging, 2d, Holomem; Jaiden animations is much more of watching a cartoon character monologue within its own completely animated world.

I'm not saying he is some paragon of VTubing, but enough of the elements were there to make a valid point, a point that isn't even necessarily about VTubers in general, but any animated-avatar based content-creator that is male, namely the content doesn't need to be Fujo-bait to appeal to the wider market.

I also mentioned in the piece you didn't quote that the length of his career is the downer on his success being a valuable metric. But really, the leeway is understandable but petty I think in the grand scheme of things. . . plus many here do indeed consider PNGTubers to be a very real subset of the entire medium (the world virtual doesn't preclude this).
