I hope those updoots were worth it. If these people are any sign for Western militaries it is that in a real war you will need to confiscate all non-issued devices from your troops.

No because even to their own the reddit battalion are laughing stocks.

How many of these tough guy LARPers that have gone to Ukraine have already turned tail and ran realizing this is a modern war and not bombing some goat herders or Somali pirates who barely know how the maintain their rifles?

If there is one thing this thread has taught me, it is the absurd amount of people going there to LARP being a soldier and hero who instead want to be a medic because they took some first aid classes once. Do these people think help people with shrapnel or bullet wounds is as easy as it is in a video game? They don't even put red crosses on their helmets or anything.

If you cunts want to play medic sign on to some NGO like DWOB.
Ex-UK army sniper dude told me once the first thing he tried to do was take out medics and cooks. I thought he was taking the piss at the time, but he was serious. Army’s gotta eat and fix up injured. Next on the list were mechanics.

Poor fucker spent half his time in a Falklands bog and can’t bear to talk about his military career until blind drunk. These Reddit larpers have no clue of reality.

I keep assuming the average person knows by default not to share their location with the enemy during war. But if you are retarded enough to farm upboats on reddit you are clearly retarded enough not to know the phone you never drop from your hand geotags your videos and photos.

I hope they are all dead and I hope many more follow. All these retards must get rekt.
Just having the phone powered on and idle is enough.

Isn't it a war crime to target medics or did I just imagine that? Then again in war, the idea of lawful conduct goes out the window so whateva.

I figured the "I'm gonna be a medic or at least a sniper" mentality is because they are seen as being the most insulated from bullet storm of front line so you can claim you were in a fight without having to worry about catching a bullet.

Probably, but as you said, legality means shit in an actual war zone. Something the Reddit brigade absolutely refuses to believe.

That's exactly it. Which begs the question: How many of these retards went to war with at least 2 phones and power banks?
And how come nobody from all the losers in that particular barracks thought something like:
Hey folx listen, we're in the middle of a warzone within a highly targeted military facility. Maybe uploading this fancy little concert night is not a great idea?
And if somebody mentioned it, why did nobody listen?

Honestly this whole thing is such a surreal fiasco I have some doubts over how legitimate it is. It's like something Homer Simpson or Peter Griffin would do. Is it all a farce?

I have some schitzo thoughts that maybe none of it is real.

Don't know if this is real, but it appears that some /pol/ack thought he was gonna be cute and join up with the Nazis in Ukraine. As seems to be a theme with foreign volunteers, it didn't exactly work out like he wanted.

Those people made it easier to bomb them than it was to find Shia Laboeuf's flag. Straight up gave away their GPS (or GLONASS i guess) coordinates.
PSA for everyone : most phone camera apps let you deactivate the geo tagging in the settings, and it might be enabled by default. You can check if a photo/video has a geo tag by looking at the "details" or "info" in the gallery. You can also scrap geo tags (and other metadata) with most photo editing software.

Likely a meme but that would have been funny.

Yup. Bad idea even with that info removed, given all the otherwise identifying information provided, but downright negligent with said info left remaining.

Yeah I wouldn't even risk having my phone turned on in a literal war zone. They just made it so effortless to get killed.
The Russian command was absolutely right to confiscate all phones from their soldiers.
Also the PSA applies to everyday opsec, not necessarily for a war situation. It's better to not create exploitable data about yourself if you don't need to, as a general rule.

This happened a lot in the normie Army, too - recruits would enlist as a high speed combat or combat-adjacent MOS, like a 12B, and then a week into training have a crisis of conscience and ask to be transferred to supply or something.

Ironically enough, this also happened with medics, who apparently weren't told by their recruiters that part of their job description includes shooting brown people, so that medical personnel could get to, and evacuate, wounded soldiers without everyone being killed.

Sadly, its an all too real proposition that the Ralph Wiggum Legion exists.

"I'm in danger" probably sounds cooler in Latin.

The easiest way to remove geo data from a photo quickly without running it through any software is to take a screenshot of the original photo and post that instead. Of course the best solution is not to post anything potentially dicey at all because you never know who's looking at it, we're posting on a site where a guy got doxed from a picture of mozzarella sticks.

Technically, it is. A lot of medics in the army carry guns however, and that forfeits the protection given by the geneva convention.
Obviously, I'd much rather have a gun to defend myself than being able to scold the enemy for blowing my brains out.

Lol. What. Rations don't require cooks. Maybe it takes this old guvna getting blind drunk to tell you bs stories
