I can't say if it applies to all SRS surgeons but I've witnessed an excessive number of instances where they absolutely do not care about a patient's complications. While that's to be expected when these people fly out to some foreign country to save a buck or get around legal issues surrounding the procedure, it happens to a worrying degree in the west. Kevin Gibes, when he underwent SRS, had necrotizing tissue and not only did his surgeon not get back to him until around a month later, they just told him to suck it up and let it rot. It would take him around another month of pestering his surgeon before they even pretended to care and snipped it off.
Browsing the SRS and GRS thread shows a lot of the same story. An individual gets the surgery, something horrific happens such as their neovagina splitting open like cherry cannoli or their scar tissue obstructs their urethra, and the surgeon takes weeks to respond and then merely tells them to wait until it magically improves. At least in FtM's it's just stupid because a neophallus always just looks stupid. I've seen surgeons who place the fake penis directly under the navel, offset it by entire inches to the left or right, and one where they constructed it using arm tissue which had a sleeve tattoo. There's seldom any major issues beyond it just appearing ridiculous. But MtF's are straight up body horror because it's way more intrusive, destructive, and prone to complications.
In this instance, Fanny's surgeon tried to pass the blame and told Fanny that because it's a fistula into his colon, a general surgeon should be the one to fix it even though the SRS surgeon was the one who caused it. Imagine you're a plumber and you get called in to fix another man's work. When you arrive, not only is what you need to fix completely incomprehensible, using methods and techniques completely alien to anyone besides the man who did it, the thing you were tasked with fixing is the house's electricity. Then when you say "just because they somehow wrapped live wire around a drainage pipe, that doesn't mean it's within my realm of expertise," the home owners blame you for not fixing it while the electrician who ruined it is in the same room and convincing them it's your fault. The surgeons themselves would most likely never want to have sex with their own Frankenstein abominations (let alone anyone else) and they know that there is a high possibility that their patient’s romantic/sex life can become nonexistent after the surgery (Yes, trannies. Thought you had a difficult dating life pre-op? Wait until your post-op. You’ll be playing on impossible mode).
So, a good proportion of their patients end up like Landon- regretful with long-lasting complications. Of course, as we all know, the worst part is that this is irreversible. Sure, there are many cosmetic surgeries that are irreversible. However, the stakes are low and it is easy to get things easily modified or replaced. Landon doesn’t have that luxury, he is literally fucked. This isn’t shitty dental work that can be fixed by another dentist. He is pretty much stuck with this surgeon and more surgeries and modifications increases his risk for more complications and reduced sensation.
As of now, Landon has two options-cope and learn to live with his mistake or don’t.

In the context of what he’s going for, I give this a thumbs up. He has large eyes and a prominent nose, so a larger mouth doesn’t seem out of place on his face. By the simple, subtle expedients of shaping his brows and plumping the lips, he’s done more to make himself look feminine than the vast majority of “facial feminization surgery” I’ve seen, and saved himself the attendant trauma.

It’s been mentioned that he has “dead eyes”, and colored contacts may be partly to blame. In my opinion, they are a serious misstep. His eyes are really an extraordinarily pretty shade of gray-blue. Whether he is looking like a woman or a man, they’re going to be his best feature and he does himself no favors by covering them up with something so clearly fake.
I do see a transition here, but not the one he’s trying to achieve. He’s been open about his mental health and the fact that his life has had its ups and downs, but dammit, the guy on the left looks genuinely happy. In the more recent pictures, his head seems to always be at an angle, and it’s almost startling to see him facing the camera dead-on. Make of that what you will.
All else aside, he’s done some objectively impressive things. He quit smoking late last year, in anticipation of the surgery. He lost a ton of weight and changed his body in a way that furthered his goal of presenting as a woman (even if it seems that some of it came off from anxiety). Yes, his hands (and feet and thighs and shoulders) are big, but show me a MTF on this thread who does their hair and makeup half as well. He made the effort on many fronts, as so many other MTFs can’t be assed to do.
As for asses, he may be peddling his all over town, but he’s not sitting on it and collecting SSDI to buy toys. We don’t know the extent that he may be leeching off the family or the boyfriend, but a PhD in a hard science should ultimately be worth something and further a professional career.
So many troons on the forum are essentially indigent, or terminally unemployed or unemployable, or bloated parasites sucking friends and family dry, or any and all of the above, but not this guy. In a tweet made after the surgery, he was upset that the complications would probably delay his breast augmentation … but also worried he might not be able to finish his PhD as soon as he wanted.
Like many of us here, I am dismayed and appalled by whole transgender phenomenon, particularly the surgery, but if a man is truly happier presenting as a woman and actually makes some effort to look like one, I can be (cautiously) on board with that. I don’t want him in my locker room or on my niece’s swim team or pestering/manipulating straight or lesbian women for sex, and I’m not crazy about his glee at cracking eggs … but this guy just might have been okay. He’s bettering himself and he’s achieved some major accomplishments (weight loss, quitting smoking, making himself appear more feminine). He could have been okay. He walked right up to the line, and he could have stopped there. He could have said, “I’ve done enough.”
That’s not what happened, of course. But I don’t think I’ve seen it raised in the thread that his surgery was, very unexpectedly, moved up almost two full years.
He was informed about three weeks before the surgery date. I can’t get the tweets now but if I remember correctly there was some pressure on him by the doctors to make a quick decision about going forward.
What about no-depth? Though still inadvisable, it would have been the better choice by far if he was hell-bent on getting rid of his male genitalia. He was smart enough to consider it, even reached out for info about it. Hindsight is 20/20 and all, but it’s hard to see him come so close to choosing a way other than the one he went.
Would things have turned out differently if he’d had more time and could have made decisions more clearly?
I’m well aware that from all indications this guy is a first-class asshole, but not nearly so much that he deserves what he’s going through now. Yaniv is reaping the whirlwind, as he should be, but I’ve tried to make a case that this guy is different in some key ways from Yaniv and the rest of the hopelessly damned.
My hope for him is that 1) he gets a colostomy bag, stat, 2) the fistula is repaired, and 3) he allows his well of misery to seal itself up forever.
My prediction is that: he will not 41% himself. He’s been through some shit (and some shit has been through him), but he’s got some grit. If he resolves the medical issues and lets it close up, within a year I can see him going on as he was before, and perhaps from his perspective even better.
