Look at the area. You piss and shit from that area, so it’s already a bacteria wonderland. Plus sweat. It’s easy enough for ingrown hairs to get a nasty infection in the groin area. Now hack and slash at it wholesale, leaving massive seam lines from the stitches. All of this is a perfect storm of infection.

Infection was what used to kill large numbers of women after childbirth, generally called puerperal fever, which was generally due to bad hygiene on the part of doctors/midwives during delivery, and caused sepsis which killed the woman. It’s incredibly easy for infections to happen during childbirth- and it’s necessary for the continuation of our species. These idiots court infection for the point of being castrated.

It's a type of pedicle surgery, which (medfags correct me if I get this wrong) can be helpful when it comes to mitigating possible blood-flow troubles in tricky areas. (It's not a new technique, and is used in less disturbing operations.)
Which proves the obvious: that phalloplasties suffer greatly from blood flow problems! We've seen the ghostly, clammy, pale results of that here. And the gangrenous results, too.
Cutting a high-up flap is necessary to create that...thing, and once decent blood flow is established, skin is stretched down and it's stitched much lower, iirc. The tip will also very likely be reconstructed to look less, uh, pointy.

Imo, this procedure is more rare for 3 reasons:
- It takes more time/skill so the doc needs to be a crafty sociopath and not just a total butcher
- It requires patience on the part of the TIF and doesn't offer the "get knocked out, wake up with a fake penis, do it all NOW" instant gratification
- More procedures = it's probably not covered by Medicaid/many insurance plans

Know a girl who's dating a man who fits in the first category.
