Smoke opaque to IR works, but it's still a matter of noticing the launch and popping smoke while driving off so that the missile drives itself into the expected location inside the smoke cloud - this doesn't give the vehicle crew a lot of time.
If you've seen those tube looking things sticking out of turrets in armored vehicles, they're cannister launchers to pop smoke.

I'm aware that tanks often have smoke canister launchers, I was speaking more of an automated defence system in the same vein as ARENA/TROPHY/Quick-Kill (Though obviously the latter three are designed to destroy incoming munitions). Admittedly I'm not sure if there's a benefit to confusing a missile's guidance vs simply destroying it mid-air, as in the former case it's still going to land somewhere.

Man I wish Ukrainians were like that, but no, they swallowed the blue&yellow pill. We live to see the results.
It was swallowing the blue/yellow pill or being forced to choke down the red one.
As someone who has talked to people who travel a lot through the 'lesser states' of Europe, it's better to be a western puppet state than a Russian one.

Such tragedy.

The Ukrainian captives desperately apologize to Kadyrov and call for surrender.

I don't know what the Chechens did to them, but the guy on the right looks completely done.

Dude is cold as fuck.
Also, this "Akhmat Stronk" spam is annoying.

Too bad the people who actually decide things drew the red line in Ukraine.

apparently traumatizing and murdering non combatants makes the residents hate Russia? wtf? Why would they hate the based non globohomo country this makes no sense
I'm more surprised Vice actually has the stones to even go to Kharkov to film the mess. More balls than most of the journoswines of current year.

We continue to move around the center of Mariupol exclusively by dashes. In each new courtyard, we are greeted by the same picture, the bodies of dead locals, broken houses, and the corpses of Ukrainian soldiers.

This whole area reminds me of the entire sniper mission from the first Call of Duty Modern Warfare game.

Its almost accurate to the real deal as far as the architecture of the buildings went.

It would, admittedly, be nice if The Ukraine/NATO would agree to the humanitarian ceasefires that Russia apparently keeps offering. Civilian death tolls are a lot higher than they really could stand to be, particularly if the various anecdotes that AZOV and other Hohol groups are forcing civilians to remain in contested areas turn out to be true.

We're not going to know for sure until well after the conflict (if ever), but It does appear that The Ukraine are going out of their way to increase civilian casualties for what are presumably propaganda purposes.

Blasting the missile seems the least worse option. Trying to obscure or confuse the seeker means that you need to detect the launch, and imagine every tank reacting to every missile launch occuring within 2km because none of the tanks can guess which one is being targeted. The active protection systems at least react to the weapon speeding towards the target vehicle so it's less chaotic.
However... an interesting defense is the possibility of lasers being pointed at the missile dome, so it doesn't even need to have enough power to zap the missile. Just overwhelm the seeker and washing out the picture.

Can you really blame them for not wanting to be (((evacuated))) into Russian territory?

Probably preferable to being liquified by a GRAD or thermobaric, I'd have thought. Is being (((evacuated))) into Russia mandatory during these proposals? I assumed that they'd be allowed to leave in the direction of, say, Romania or wherever.

Has Russia denied any humanitarian ceasefires? I've only seen NATO/The Ukraine doing it, plus the much earlier one that WAS agreed upon (And then The Ukrainians allege Russia started firing anyway. Not sure if that was actually confirmed.)

Blasting the missile does carry the ARENA caveat wherein it mulches nearby infantry, though. I don't know if Trophy/Quick-Kill has this same issue (Presumably to a lesser extent). Lasering the seeker mechanism seems doable, but still leaves the missile careening towards... somewhere.

I find these ADS systems pretty fascinating, honestly.

EDIT: I wonder if centralising missile defence into some sort of dedicated vehicle, rather than having each tank possess ADS is viable? I guess it would mean you'd need to remain in LOS of the defender-truck at all times, which isnt really ideal.

Uh, no? You got it backwards. The UN security council shot down Russia's proposal for esablishing a humanitarian ceasefire with 2 votes "Aye" (Russia and China) and the rest abstaining literally yesterday, Approval would need no less than 9 votes in favor.

Christ, you're already fucked, just bite the hajji's nose off as your last act and be done with it. You get beheaded as he writhes in pain and potentially dies from bloodloss on the ground... he's so close to his face.
Don't worry, he was assassinated by the president of Ukraine at the time before the current kike in charge.

He apparently was from Georgia but named his rebel battalion as the "Somalia Battalion" lol and managed to take control of an airport.
