President Joe Biden on Tuesday said that the United States will impose sanctions “far beyond” the ones that the United States imposed in 2014 following the annexation of the Crimean peninsula.

“This is the beginning of a Russian invasion of Ukraine,” Biden said in a White House speech, signaling a shift in his administration’s position. “We will continue to escalate sanctions if Russia escalates,” he added.

Russian elites and their family members will also soon face sanctions, Biden said, adding that “Russia will pay an even steeper price” if Moscow decides to push forward into Ukraine. Two Russian banks and Russian sovereign debt will also be sanctioned, he said.

Also in his speech, Biden said he would send more U.S. troops to the Baltic states as a defensive measure to strengthen NATO’s position in the area.

Russia shares a border with Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered troops to go into the separatist Donetsk and Lugansk regions in eastern Ukraine after a lengthy speech in which he recognized the two regions’ independence.

Western powers decried the move and began to slap sanctions on certain Russian individuals, while Germany announced it would halt plans to go ahead with the Russia-to-Germany Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

At home, Biden is facing bipartisan pressure to take more extensive actions against Russia following Putin’s decision. However, a recent poll showed that a majority of Americans believe that sending troops to Ukraine is a “bad idea,” and a slim minority believes it’s a good one.

All 27 European Union countries unanimously agreed on an initial list of sanctions targeting Russian authorities, said French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and EU foreign affairs head Josep Borell claimed the package “will hurt Russia … a lot.”

Earlier Tuesday, Borell asserted that Russian troops have already entered the Donbas region, which comprises Donetsk and Lugansk, which are under the control of pro-Russia groups since 2014.

And on Tuesday, the Russian Parliament approved a Putin-back plan to use military force outside of Russia’s borders as Putin further said that Russia confirmed it would recognize the expanded borders of Lugansk and Donetsk.

“We recognized the states,” the Russian president said. “That means we recognized all of their fundamental documents, including the constitution, where it is written that their [borders] are the territories at the time the two regions were part of Ukraine.”

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Putin said that Ukraine is “not interested in peaceful solutions” and that “every day, they are amassing troops in the Donbas.”

Meanwhile, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday morning again downplayed the prospect of a Russian invasion and proclaimed: “There will be no war.”

“There will not be an all-out war against Ukraine, and there will not be a broad escalation from Russia. If there is, then we will put Ukraine on a war footing,” he said in a televised address.

The White House began to signal that they would shift their own position on whether it’s the start of an invasion.

“We think this is, yes, the beginning of an invasion, Russia’s latest invasion into Ukraine,” said Jon Finer, the White House deputy national security adviser in public remarks. “An invasion is an invasion and that is what is underway.”

For weeks, Western governments have been claiming Moscow would invade its neighbor after Russia gathered some 150,000 troops along the countries’ borders. They alleged that the Kremlin would attempt to come up with a pretext to attack, while some officials on Monday said Putin’s speech recognizing the two regions was just that.

But Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters Tuesday that Russia’s “latest invasion” of Ukraine is threatening stability in the region, but he asserted that Putin can “still avoid a full blown, tragic war of choice.”

The worst part about this whole Ukraine-Russian war is the fact that I cannot go to my favorite websites anymore without a Russian Shill shitting up everything screaming "BASED PUTIN BASED PUTIN" and being in so much denial about Russia not being able to do anything about Ukraine, motherfucking Ukraine. Literally Nikocado Avocado's Homeland.

What do you guys predict will happen after this? I don't mean as Russia taking over or not, but rather what do you guys think will happen to Russia regardless of the results of this invasion? They will ever recover?

>We are gonna take Kiev in two days, Ukraine isn't a real country
>We'll win in two weeks trust the plan Z
>We didn't really care about changing the government
>We don't want to demilitarize Ukraine
>We don't need Odessa
>Steinerenckovich's attack will fix everything
>We don't need Kiev, we just want to protect Donbass

YOU ARE HERE
>Donbass doesn't matter, КРIМ НАШ!1!1!
>Who gives a toss about Crimea, it's a shithole anyway
>You don't understand deep battle, we seeded Rostov in order to bait the Hohols and trap them
>They'll never have Moscow, father winter is on our side
>Moscow Hah, Vladivostok is way better anyway
>Jokes on you, my ass is yet unsodomized

:story:
He is such a dumbass doubling down as well

Who are the journalists calling both sides out. I would love to look them up and read some of their articles.

Some of the stuff Bill has said that you posted are a surprise to me since he's usually lot more unhinge in his tweets.

It’s almost like he wants a more calmer blood vengeance with Russia. He and MSM profits off of war if it bleeds anything it leads. Just look at their track record over the past 20 or 30 years and look even longer before that. At least he is not spouting blue anon conspiracy theories and I can tell you there probably are somewhere you just have to look deep.

Yeah I am surprised not seeing any blue anon in those two posts. But like you said it's possible that there are and it's just subtle enough you could miss it.

I really would like to see some neutral takes in all honselty. Both the Pro-war and based Russia sides all have agendas they want to push.

When journalists push an agenda it’s always a red flag even if it’s causes death and destruction. Just look at Walter duranity when he covered up the holodomor. He worked the for New York Times and won Pulitzers for his work. no wonder they are a joke now a days just look a Nicole Hannah Jones the black Walter duranity if you will.
Hell jimmy dore can be considered a journalist since he is covering the war calling out both Russia and the lies from the warmongers that are MSM.

You got give those who are calling out bullshit on both sides credit. It isn't easy most likely.

I would politely disagree.

Example:

How is this in the interest of the state fighting a war for survival to retain parties that have direct links to the country that is invading you? In terms of talking heads in the US, he might be relatively reasonable but he has such an obvious slant.

They are the true saints in this. As much as I’m not huge fan of jimmy dore but when is right he is right but I’m also willing to call people out who compare this to Iraq since it’s not where the same level as that or the toll from that war or the atrocities committed during that time. The appropriate equivalent instead of iraq would be the US annex Baja California-Mexico and then years later invading Mexico since it’s more accurate.

That is why I said when he is right he is right sometimes. I’m not disagreeing with you either since jimmy has said out there things and did questionable things at TYT which we all know at this but by god that man has some principles that he is willing to stand for. He calls out the media when they need to be called out even now.

I agree. This is why I actually like @Vince McMahon an actual Ukrainian who are discussing these things and isnt really pushing a narrative.

On the ground coverage and the people who are there is probably the best source of information of what is going on. This is why I consider them to be top notch they live to tell the tale on what happened and what was it like.

I'm not an unbiased party, far from it. Even if I stayed in Ukraine right now, I would've had a massively negative anti-Russian slant not in the least because I have fled Eastern Ukraine in 2014. It's why the discussion thread in Habbenings keeps calling me a "deserter" because sometimes I sperg about Russians while managing to leave the country a little bit prior to the war.

Exactly!! Those are the ones who wouldn't make shit up and are the ones who are telling the tale.

You know I was thinking. My father is a big history buff and because of him I have alot of knowledge have history. But I remmber a few years ago my father had said that he believed Putin was trying to make himself a czar and was trying to rebuild the Soviet union. I had doubted him a little. But man was he completely right but I guess that's the thing with history buffs they know their stuff becuase they follow history.

Mariupol siege gave time for Odessa to prepare.

the shocking part about Mariupol is that Ukrainians somehow still have armor in that city, that's not a squad of dudes hiding in a cellar. In one vid Uki commander says that Russians are throwing troops at them who are hungry and tired and poorly clothed and simply don't want to be there.

Russia posted a Shoigu meeting on their Zvezda channel to show that he is alive, but Ukrainians claim the meeting is from March 11th. I watched the vid and nothing said could be attributed to current events, I think it's plausible that's an old vid.

The practice of running pre-made videos that can be attributed to the events in the present is quite old and Russians call it "canned food".

That is, "to run a canned food montage".

Still through your more honest than "Based Russia" crowd and the pro-war crowd as in your aware that your bias. Those two sides on the other hand belive in their own bias
