If it was found out Destiny was embezzling funds from the time he was fundraising/campaigning for Democratic politicians these people wouldn't brush it off so easily as they are doing with her. They'd use it to further attack him. Claiming to be a communist while stealing from a poorly funded socialist party for personal greed shows a lack of judgement for Keffals. Or that they weren't ever truly on board with the party and were just doing it for fun/being edgy.
