yeah i'm behind but I wanted to reply specifically to this. Crichton was already on an early form of the celebrity shit list because of his novel State of Fear where he tackled climate change. Despite being fiction, he still went out of his way to cite literally every single piece of factual info he based the novel off, with a 20 page bibliography at the end. Hoooooooooooooooooo boy did he piss a lot of people off with that one.
