Fair enough - my post had the general gist of Germany's thinking anyway. Economic interdependency to maintain peace has been proven to be naive now but hindsight is always 20/20.

The EU was originally created as the European Coal and Steel Community, the thinking being that if Germany was dependent on France for strategic materials they might not start a third world war.

The CCP might have offered some empty words of condemnation but they're most definitely quietly supporting the war on the side. western european powers going to war has been prevented by them all being united (against their will sometimes) under the american boot in order to form the western answer to russias warsaw pact, and also by two of the most belligerent and historically warlike countries in the region (england and france) being nuclear now and thus basically uninvadable
