Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

There's still quite a few barriers that could be broken, for example loading an entire open world at once with no need for draw distance or fog because you can see everything for the get go and everything is always at maximum detail. That means no more need to make lower resolution models for distance.
That is a horrible idea. If you have everything loaded at once you will have to make transformation calculations for everything every frame and Simplygon will create the LOD models down to the impostor. There's a reason for their logo being seen on many splash screens.

All of them, but Witcher 3 is specifically the one that spiked that shit-pile into popularity.

It's been a series, even before the games were made, that lives off ripping off more popular shit, made by one of the most abhorant companies in the industry. W1 ripped off MMOs in it's gameplay, and 2...I don't know, I didn't bother. I only gave 3 a shot because everyone said it was good now, and I desperately want some good fantasy games. Also piracy, cus fuck no I'm not giving CDPR money.

You have a game about tracking and studying monsters, learning about them, hunting them, all that good shit. And what do you do? Slap batman's detective vision onto a jank ass chinese knock-off of Dark Souls combat. Even if I choose not to turn on the detective vision, Jerald (sic) just starts loudly screaming in his monotone shit voice about how I need to inspect that pile of shit over there, since it might be relevant to the shit golem I'm tracking.

And when I say mary sue, I don't mean writing, though that's bad too. He's literally babies first fan-fic faggot. Long white hair, 'cool' scars, everyone hates him for being better, so he has to be better than them, but every bitch wants his dick, because he's just that hot. Carries two swords cus that's cool (or at least, Drizz't said it was cool), even though he only uses one. And don't come at me with that 'one is for beasts, the other for monsters, bullshit. Silver works just fine on human flesh. The only difference between Jerald and Kirito (Sword Art Online, AKA, Weeb self insert 2231) is hair color and one is more honest about being a pandering shit pile.

If the first game didn't have TLOU grade sex scenes, the series would've died in the ditch where it belongs.
Silver is also much softer than steel. Which is why no one makes weapons out of it IRL. Witcher would have been a (modest) success even if it didn't come to the west because that IP is big in Eastern Europe. You've got hate-wood for it that rivals Razorfist's.
-I absolutely fucking hate Destiny 1/2, I'm told that I need to give the game a chance and that it's eventually good if you buy all the dlc. also the fact they locked content people already paid for as "vaulting", this isn't fucking Disney. Also most of the people I see that play Destiny 2 have those tranny profile pics.

-I never got the appeal of games like System Shock 1 and Ultima Underworld/Daggerfall, its just too much DOS-jank for me to handle.
I played Destiny. It was not advertised as an MMO but there's content you can't complete single player. Also it was fucking boring.

As much as I like System Shock, I totally understand your problems with it. DOS jank is something you can either handle or can't and I don't fault you for being in the not camp.
I think @Marissa Moira is a bit TOO passionate about PlayStation. However, that shtick is mildly entertaining.
Is @Marissa Moira secretly Chadwarden? That shit would be baller.

True, however, that doesn't excuse why it carves through beast flesh perfectly fine, or the exact same human flesh when it gets necrotic. I'm aware silver is a fantasy staple, (so is iron, but Sappo would have to know dick about anything for that), but it really does come off as just an excuse to do the 'cool thing.'

Also, I don't deny it. The games suck, CDPR is sub-human garbage, and it needs to die, not constantly be injected into shit it doesn't belong. Edit: Not to mention it has the dumbest, most autistic faggots as a fanbase this side of fucking Fortnite.

That being said, I do love that both games Jerald has put his worthless ass in show him to be the pathetic man-baby he is. Soul Calibur 6 has him get instantly pantsed by a random samurai, then spend the rest of the game running away from said samurai, and Monster Hunter has the hunters literally protecting him from the first monster in the game because he can't handle them.

Well I mean "silver affecting evil" is fairly universal in Euro folklore, I always though "cold iron" was pretty specific to Celtic cultures.

Wow, I think The Witcher games are somewhat overrated and Geralt personifies the embarrassing fantasies of maladjusted coomers, but I'm not angry at their very existence.

Your hatred of the series is pretty baffling.

Please read the books, I'm begging you. Sapkowsky really does know how to write characters like people that exist and not just objects to move a plot forward. It's a common theme in the books that Geralt presents himself as this grizzled Clint Eastwood type distant and edgy bad ass. But he's actually not. Oh sure he tries to be. He presents himself as what a medieval peasant thinks a Witcher is. But he's actually incredibly bitter he's not really that at all, Geralt is at times pathetic (especially when it comes to women.), thinks about things more than he lets on, is more emotional than he likes, has been through a lot of pain and heartache that he won't admit hurts, and most annoyingly to himself he cares about his friends and extended family to the point of handicapping himself or making his life harder as a Witcher to keep those he cares about around. Whilst also running away from long term commitments for fear of losing the persona he's created for himself. He's not a mary sue. He's a complex, flawed, at times stupid and very well thought out character who overcomes a few but not all of his flaws and grows until he gets stabbed in the back by a pitchfork because Sapkowski didn't want to write anymore Witcher books. In the books. The games simplified that a lot by giving Geralt amnesia.

I can understand that CDPR wanted to present The Witcher for the first time to a western European and American audience that hadn't read the books. So I understand their need to simplify a lot of the character depth from the books across the board. Most of the characters in the books are these complicated people with agendas and personas they present. It's like A Song of Ice and Fire but written by someone who actually understands complexity and nuance in characters. Now the Witcher books did start losing the plot a bit when they started focusing more on Ciri being an exceptionally retarded protagonist. But a lot of that comes down to Sapkowski not actually giving a shit about the Witcher beyond the first couple of books and only writing more begrudingly and mystified at the series success. (I've actually met him at a con. He told me to my face that he doesn't understand why Witcher is so popular when he half arses it so much.) And I will say the third game, The Wild Hunt actually did bring back a little of the depth. But it was still written for the lowest common denominator and still missed a lot of nuance from the characters.

Also the characterization and complexity was one of many MANY things that god awful netflix series got completely wrong. The games didn't get it wrong per say, they just simplified it. The Netflix Witcher series goes out of it's way to make the stupidest, most wrong headed decisions about a pre-existing IP I've ever seen. And I watched Star Trek Discovery. It's somehow worse than that.

Netflix series brought a shitload of women to the franchise because they made it a dime store romance book with a silver fox.

They wind up buying the game and then realize that the series has more violence than game of thrones.

That would have been forgivable if the women were, you know, attractive.
