It's not like when he was actually on-screen with other actors in these movies it was really any different from his scenes that were obviously filmed separately.

Maybe, but this was also around the time it was said that he pissed off everyone in Hollywood, unless that has been a cover story this whole time.

Pre-collapse Kevin Smith described in detail what Willis was like to work with on two movies, and the guy came across ultimately as lonely and isolated, doing films for a social life.

If he was legitimately losing his mind, he wouldn't have had anyone to point it out to him, or question his declining behaviour on set. Smith was in awe of the way Willis confidently dismissed the suits on the Die Hard shoot, so if that behaviour became less focused and more belligerent, it's easy to see how it could be interpreted as Bruce becoming an asshole.

What was the chance that they choose him to spotlight instead of any other of the former A listers that crank all these movie?

Pretty good, honestly. Bruce Willis was definitely the most prolific of them all in recent years, with only Nic Cage being comparable in my opinion. And Cage has seemingly moved on from needing to crank out low-budget movies to deal with his ludicrous spending habits and is back to making movies he wants to make (side note, I hope the RLM boys discuss The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent). Meanwhile, you couldn't go a week without another dozen cheapo Bruce Willis movies popping up at Redbox or on whatever streaming platform.

You could maybe make a comparison to Steven Seagal's modern career, but Seagal never reached the A-list heights, so he didn't have nearly as far to fall. That probably makes for a less interesting video since you expect him to make schlock, but Willis's career taking this turn is a much sadder story. But hey, maybe they'll do a Seagal follow-up. Lord knows the jokes write themselves.

Patrick Stewart is already dead. And didn't John de Lancie get sucked out of an airlock in Stargate?
Picard is currently a robot with the memories of Picard, and I’m betting the twist of season 2 Picard is that Q is dying somehow and this will be his last big hurrah. Since they killed Data season 1, season 2 will kill Q, and then robot Picard will finally die for season 3.

but Seagal never reached the A-list heights
Fuck you, nigga.

There were a good 5-6 years in the 90s where Seagal was definitely an A-Lister. Everyone, and I mean everyone went to see that shit, or rented it:

Yeah yeah millenial faggots only know him as ridiculous fat man who can't act or throw a punch, but that dude was the shit.

His career reached it's apex with his role in this:

It blew everyone's mind. Sadly he flew too close to the sun and he'd never be able to recreate his explosive acting in the future. In a way, that's when his career started to crash. It's like he gave it all he had and just couldn't find a way to refuel. Dude was on fucking fire.

This reminds me of an episode of Star Trek Deep Space Nine...

There was that one BOTW episode with Macaulay Cukin where they were talking, Jay said something, and the. Mike, Rich Evens AND Culkin all responded at the same time “no, it was from a Star Trek episode…” and thinking of that still makes me laugh.

Even the drug addicted ex-child star knows Star Trek better than Jay.

I think there needs to be a new series: Mike and Rich force Jay to watch Star Trek. Mike and Rich each pick a certain number of episodes from each series they think best represents the show and have Jay watch them. Maybe have what they think is the best episode of the series, their personal favorite, the one normies are most likely to enjoy, a horror or art house themed episode to appeal to Jay, and the worst episode. Afterwards they talk about what was good and bad, how easy it is for a casual to enjoy each series, and how the series works as a TV show vs how it compares to other Star Trek shows. Make it happen you fat drunks!

You’d better start enjoying! This is gold right here! Gene Rodenberry created these characters, alright? You’re disrespecting Mr. Gene Rodenberry. Any time there’s an important moment, I’m going to look at you! I’m going to look. Right. At you. And point.”
