how long and drawn out the process is in practice depends entirely on how much america wants to use your territory.
in the case of sweden and especially finland, the territory would be extremely valuable due to their location on russia's exposed baltic flank, so once these countries ask for it it's gonna happen extremely quickly.

Actually it's not tbh. Whatever the outcome of this war, I think just about everyone, with a few exceptions, will be glad that they're gone. It removes one big potential threat to stability post war.

The Pajeets have already agreed to the plan, by the way, and are now working on a designated shitting payment system to bypass SWIFT.

The Pajeets were getting 10x the amount of gas from Iran in 2019 compered to what they've been getting from Russia, also at a discount and also payed for entirely outside of SWIFT in Rupees. The US by itself was able to put an end to that in a matter of months.

Getting away from the dollar or other western currency isn't a new idea and it does nothing at evading sanctions outside of the minds of smooth brains who think words like "petrodollar" have any place outside of conspiratorial ramblings.

Two years tops for Europe to build the necessary infrastructure and Russia oil/gas will be just as exposed to sanctions as they were only it wont be a unilateral effort on the US's part this time. India along with the rest of the world will fold immediately and China will never sole source its petroleum needs, no doubt China will keep the taps partially open as a safeguard but not at a significantly reduced price in exchange for the cost of doing business with Russia in the future, even with massive concessions/assurances from the Russian state they will never import enough to replace Europe.

No amount of replacing the dollar with Disney bucks and shifting them through middle men is going to insulate the Russian economy from the fact that its dependent on an export market that will be increasingly closed off and less profitable.

Reminder that if Canada reopens some of the infrastructure that was shut down (meaning most of the work is already done for them and can be done in a matter of months) to decrease domestic fossil fuel consumption and sells that to Europe, Russia is in big trouble. Still won't be as cheap because no pipeline, but oil tankers exist for a reason.
