General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

It's super noticeable that Ame has been using her Motion Tracking suit the past 2 days. It's not 100% perfect, since there were still a few moments where it glitched out during Twister, but nowhere near as bad as the other members who to my knowledge are just using Index Trackers.

Hopefully, the others will also make the investment if they intend on doing more stuff like this. Especially after they actually have their official 3D Debut.

Can anyone explain why? I feel the same but can't exactly explain why. Cover must have accidentally cast the right mix of personalities.
It may be as simple as being the first pass at a new talent pool getting the absolute top picks. But there is something about Myth that really feels special.

I will say that Fauna and Bae have grown on me since their debut (Bae especially after her Hontou no Kou cover), while I've kinda tended to forget Kronii exists.

I may not have the best answer but i give my POV on the various factors that can explain it:
  • Hololive being the first big corpo (and the most famous one) to put an audition on the western landscape
  • Putting on management people that not only respects the holoJP foundations but understands western culture as well.
  • The selected talents being: a former idol, a top illustrator, a rapper, a weeb meme music machine aside of the pink cat and a creative vtuber thats expert on VR . All being good on their respective fields.
  • And discovering a big western fanbase that likes more GA (or PG) comedy focus content, aside from the coomer/degenerate one we've used to since Projekt Melody appeared (and the content/fanbase vshojo ended embracing it)
Thats not all of course, others can complement this.

EDIT: I cant give invite link to said server, so sorry for that.
Damn. I think I was invited to one or two when the first purge happened. . . but I was out of commission at the time and the invite expired.
Myth just hits different. No comparison.
Can anyone explain why?
I'll get the seal of disapproval from some of the Nijiknights here (calm yourselves gents I'm on the side of the angels here), I do think Holo's biggest strength is the 'family vibe' that Pippa mentioned in an earlier stream. It isn't magic, they cater and mechanically enforce that.

But, Myth was the pinnacle of that, even taking into account the (now proven to be more shallow than previously thought) perfect-(edited because my idiot-self put a five instead of a three) 3rd gen. I don't think you can really remake this again though.

There is such a mix of personality, personal struggle, skill, and charisma mixed with a perfect timeframe where they could all spend extended off-screen time together while isolated from external pressures and interactions due to the virus of unknown origin. It was the VTuber equivalent of a foxhole. Myth was all they had; they care about each other in a way that you don't see in entertainment, it is actual camaraderie.

I wouldn't have it any other way.

The same but Mumei as well, Kronni is good in collabs (especially with Gura) but other than that she seems to vanish from my mind and Sana is still mostly an unknown to me despite being around for half a year(also unlike Bae her accent is annoying rather than charming).

And i need this as a screen saver.

@sashimi Spoiler bc I don't genuinely think its on topic but am an admitted DDK/Calli simp
For it being her first released stuff its actually pretty good. Granted the mix is not good but as far as the performance and lyrics go it's much better than other first releases I've heard before. Crazy she got her voice that early on. I don't blame her for yeeting it off the internet though. I appreciate the sincerity she brings to her lyrics but I don't think I'd admit to half the stuff she does in her music with a gun to my head. She still hasn't talked about some of the stuff she mentions in those releases.

In a way I agree.

I think that's what NijiEN is starting to bring. That same "family" feeling into the mix. It didn't really feel that way for me for Gen 1 and 2 (I only cared about Selen) but Once Gen 3 came out I feel like they embraced the family feel. This didn't stop with the boys either.

Their personalities meshing really well is a big part of it, but I think for me it’s their growth. They had some incredibly awkward, scuffed collabs early on, but these days I associate “Myth Collab” with some creative shit where things will probably fall apart and they’ll just roll with it. I think they really hit their stride with that one TTRPG collab that fell apart and they just said “fuck it, we’ll spin it into something else.” It just feels like they built chemistry out of nothing.

I remember a great post here where someone talks about how having an “oshi” is mainly about watching someone grow and I think Myth embodies that with how they’re always pushing new things. I’m not even watching VTubers as often these days but I think I might legit tear up when I see the first Myth off-collab.
